In 2005 Xavier Vanneste, son of Mrs Véronique Maes, renovated and restarted the old brewery which had been in the family since 1856. He launched Brugse Zot, a new beer with a unique recipe. Today Brugse Zot is the only beer brewed in Bruges’ town centre!
The people of Bruges are known as "Brugse Zotten" (Bruges Fools), also known as "Brugse Jonckers"

Golden colored, clear, medium white head. Aroma is bready, caramel malt, some fruits and green apples, bit spicy yeast. Taste is medium sweet caramel, green apple, bit fruity, slightly metallic, spicy, bready finish. Medium to light bodied, soft+ carbonation. Bready and apples, sounds very young. Disappointed. Wazig goudkleurig bier met mooie witte schuimkraag. Aroma: Fruitig en kruidig met voornamelijk citrus karakter en gist notities. Smaak: Licht zurig en moutig met kruidentoets. Mondgevoel is licht, afdronk uitgesproken droog.

Clear honey gold color with white foam. Aromas of wheat, yeast, plain and reminds really of witbier. Palate, medium body with oily texture and leaves wheaty aftertaste. Taste is quite yeasy, plain and simple somewhat sweet. Overall not too impresive for a Belgian ale, lightish and reminds of german witbiers.

23.12.2015-0,33l - Flasche. Goldgelb, fast klar, freinporige, ordentliche, lang amhaltende Krone. Aroma hefig, fruchtig. Antrunk weiter hefig, etwas Zitrus, etwas blumig. Stark prickelnd aufgrund hoher Karbonisierung. Erfrischendes Sessionbier !

330mL bottle BBE: 29-09-2017. Medium-chill (approx 10 degrees). Pours an orangey amber body with light haze and a large, towering, loose and pillowy off-white head. Medium-intensity citrus on the nose, with dough/bread, vanilla, milk and a hint of spice. A medium crackerbread sweetness is underpinned by a light bitterness on the tongue. Light-bodied with a foamy, frothy texture and high carbonation that refreshes the palate. A solid if unspectacular Belgian ale.

This is an amber beer with a hazy appearance and a frothy head. It has a medium sweetness and slight bitterness to the taste. It has a medium body, a slick feel with soft carbonation, and a long finish. Overall this beer is very enjoyable and I definitely recommend it.
