Commercial Description:
Bottle; Unfiltered.
In 2005 Xavier Vanneste, son of Mrs Véronique Maes, renovated and restarted the old brewery which had been in the family since 1856. He launched Brugse Zot, a new beer with a unique recipe. Today Brugse Zot is the only beer brewed in Bruges’ town centre!
The people of Bruges are known as "Brugse Zotten" (Bruges Fools), also known as "Brugse Jonckers"

Aroma is a crisp malt scent with a hint of skunk. Color is golden with a lot of sediment floating around, looks like fish food. Carbonation is very active with a very thick dense head. Taste is light and metallic. Starting with a light body it goes down with a crisp. Finish is a light mildly sweet malt taste with a faint fruity flavor. After taste leaves you with a metallic taste and a little skunk. Not a very good Belgian brew and not something I would seek out again

A bit smaller than a 12oz bottle. I liked the label and saved it for a Fall/Halloween poster I’m putting together. Drink by 2/09 I think. Clear and Golden pour with TONS of carbonation and a light head. Crisp Belgian aroma with alcohol and yeast being rather forward. Hints of spice and fruit – generally clove and banana. Light candy flavor with alcohol, and very light fruit. I also noted ginger and pepper. Unfortunately (like most goldens) this is not a flavor I care for. Medium body with sharp carbonation (if you know what I mean – like drinking cola fast). Again, not a fan in general of the style.

Appearance: golden color. Medium and white head, lasting. Aroma: herbal spicy from hops, with coriander and some mentholated aromatic reminiscences. Also, the sweet aroma from pale malts. Flavor: lasting yeasty start. Progress of the pale malts and a herbal-spicy touch from hops; with medium, lasting dryness and slight metallic touch. Bitter fruitiness like grapefruit. Herby and yeasty aftertaste. Palate: medium body and high carbonation. Remark: balanced and nice beer, but without high-points.

bottle - Pours golden with lots of suspended yeast flakes. It has a mild yeast and malt aroma. It tastes of pale malt, yeast, and has more hops bitterness than one might expect. It’s very bubbly on the palate and struck me as a little watery. The finish is dry. While this beer is alright, I just didn’t think there was much to it. It’s drinkable, but at $4 for a small bottle at the liquor store, not worth getting again.

Bottle from John’s Marketplace in Portland, OR--Poured a hazy golden body with a frothy white head. Sweet candy and fruity aroma with yeasty esters. Spicy, malty caramel notes with a dry, clean finish.
