Commercial Description:
Bottle; Unfiltered.
In 2005 Xavier Vanneste, son of Mrs Véronique Maes, renovated and restarted the old brewery which had been in the family since 1856. He launched Brugse Zot, a new beer with a unique recipe. Today Brugse Zot is the only beer brewed in Bruges’ town centre!
The people of Bruges are known as "Brugse Zotten" (Bruges Fools), also known as "Brugse Jonckers"

Pours golden with a long lasting white head. Hoppy aroma and nice taste for quite a light beer. Light spicyness, very little aftertaste. Very balanced and drinkable.

Hefe with odd pepper and metallic notes. Nice look and plenty of flavor for a light bodied brew. Not something you look for again at 3.30 a bottle, perhaps that is why people give it the undeserved low rating.

Pours a cloudy golden color with a decent sized off white head. Aroma of wheat, clove, and banana, smelled like a light aroma hefe. Decent flavor, but nothing special.

(Draught on 2008-05-19, rated from memory) Golden and cloudy. Quite big white head. Yeasty and bit malty nose. Yeast and some sweetness in taste.

Aroma is a crisp malt scent with a hint of skunk. Color is golden with a lot of sediment floating around, looks like fish food. Carbonation is very active with a very thick dense head. Taste is light and metallic. Starting with a light body it goes down with a crisp. Finish is a light mildly sweet malt taste with a faint fruity flavor. After taste leaves you with a metallic taste and a little skunk. Not a very good Belgian brew and not something I would seek out again

A bit smaller than a 12oz bottle. I liked the label and saved it for a Fall/Halloween poster I’m putting together. Drink by 2/09 I think. Clear and Golden pour with TONS of carbonation and a light head. Crisp Belgian aroma with alcohol and yeast being rather forward. Hints of spice and fruit – generally clove and banana. Light candy flavor with alcohol, and very light fruit. I also noted ginger and pepper. Unfortunately (like most goldens) this is not a flavor I care for. Medium body with sharp carbonation (if you know what I mean – like drinking cola fast). Again, not a fan in general of the style.
