Commercial Description:
Bottle; Unfiltered.
In 2005 Xavier Vanneste, son of Mrs Véronique Maes, renovated and restarted the old brewery which had been in the family since 1856. He launched Brugse Zot, a new beer with a unique recipe. Today Brugse Zot is the only beer brewed in Bruges’ town centre!
The people of Bruges are known as "Brugse Zotten" (Bruges Fools), also known as "Brugse Jonckers"

2008-03-04. Lightly hazy golden amber body with a modest white head that fades on the quick side, modest smattering of lacing. Zesty aroma of yeast and light spice - coriander? (6+) Similar flavour with stronger spice coming out, sweet underlying malt, yeast notes, brief hints at yeasty banana? (6+) Average palate. Pleasant average Belgian brew.

Hazy golden orange, thin head. Sweet spicy hoppy aroma. Taste matches aroma - light creamy malty body, some banana, and soft hops. Banana and malt finish.

Bottle - 330ml. Hazy golden body with average carbonation and a fair white foamy/creamy head. Well balanced malty/hoppy aroma with flowery, spicy, and bready hints. Taste is also well balanced but it lacks complexity. Ends with a good bittersweet finish.

Bottle from Wine Warehouse Charlottesville. Pours golden amber with massive white foamy head with good retention and lacing. So many large chunks of sediment that it practically looks like an inverted snow globe. Bitter aroma with some honey and citrus. Starts off with some pretty typical Belgian flavors and then goes right into an earthy thing that tastes a lot like mushrooms. I like mushrooms, but on the pizza I’m eating with the beer, not the beer itself. This is bizarre.

Pours a clear golden color with huge chunks floating in it and a medium, diminishing white head. Aroma of honey and mild hops. Decent flavor of honey and hops. The body is medium with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation. This is the kind of beer that you can enjoy once but won’t buy again.
