Commercial Description:
Bottle; Unfiltered.
In 2005 Xavier Vanneste, son of Mrs Véronique Maes, renovated and restarted the old brewery which had been in the family since 1856. He launched Brugse Zot, a new beer with a unique recipe. Today Brugse Zot is the only beer brewed in Bruges’ town centre!
The people of Bruges are known as "Brugse Zotten" (Bruges Fools), also known as "Brugse Jonckers"

Aroma of citrus and yeast. Very clean aroma. Perhaps a bit of lemon. Light brassy color. Substantial head. It almost started with apple, but that was not it. Perhaps a hint of ginger. Very light on the hops, the finish is a bit sweetish. Perhaps a bit of banana-ish hefeweisen in the finish. Very nice. Moderately complex. Moderate mouthfeel. Not a heavy drink.

Bottle. Poured hazy orange with an average fizzy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate sweet tart citrus aroma. Light to medium body with a thin texture and soft carbonation. Light sweet citrus flavor with a light sweet finish of short duration.

A light golden orange coloured beer with a thk, but frothy white head. A sweet malty nose with a touch of wheat and a hint of hop. The taste is dry with a fizzy mouthfeel. Sweet biscuity malt flavour, with a wheaty, cereal taste that is accompanied by a touch od crisp hop in the finish. (Bottle - courtesy of Mark @ The Fox & Hounds, Heacham, Norfolk).

Tried this at the brewery. A nice strong light ale. Malty, sweet, yet crisp at the same time. Nice big head that had a tendency to overflow the glasses. Definately a good beer. Maybe one day I’ll try the other Straffe Hendrick beers.

Sampled at River’s Bend from 11.2 oz bottle... Golden color, clear. Moderate carbonation. Ivory crown. Aroma is slightly sweet wheat and yeast. Flavor is like the aroma with some fruity undertones. Overall this beer is smooth and well balanced.

Bottle (from Bitter Virtue, BB May 09). Blonde with a bubbly white head. Sweet fruity with yeasty nuttiness. Full feel at the start with a slightly tangy finish which left a tingly bittersweet flavour. Malt character isnt too my taste in this beer slight sulphur character contributes to a lagery malt feel. Some interest but on the whole not great.

Draft at the brewery. Clear golden-blonde body, small white head with good lacing. Syrupy, very sweet with a slight baklava taste. Malt has a crisp pastry feel. Finish is syrupy sweet. Average sweet Belgian blonde. This tot of zot I got was not hot a lot.

Bottled. Golden orange colour, small white head. Sweet fruits, alcohol, yeast and apricot. Flavour is fruits, earthyness, caramell and slight alcohol. Lots of nuts also, especially in the finish.
