Commercial Description:
Bottle; Unfiltered.
In 2005 Xavier Vanneste, son of Mrs Véronique Maes, renovated and restarted the old brewery which had been in the family since 1856. He launched Brugse Zot, a new beer with a unique recipe. Today Brugse Zot is the only beer brewed in Bruges’ town centre!
The people of Bruges are known as "Brugse Zotten" (Bruges Fools), also known as "Brugse Jonckers"

[Bottled. Monk’s Café, Stockholm] Clear golden colour. Light sourish nose, with hints of glue and almonds. Pretty big body with a dash of nuts. Big maltiness with almond notes.

[Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm] Clear golden, rocky head. Vinous black currant dominate the aroma. Light bodied with sparkling mouthfeel. Has a fresh citric character, sort of wild yeast of Brettanomycaes type. Very interesting beer!

Clear amber with thick white clinging head. Sprightly carbonation tingles the tongue at the first sip and rises in a column from the center of the Begian goblet this was sampled from. Slightly sweet with a soft round mouthfeel, except for the tight bubbly carbonation. A fairly light body makes this an easy drinking Belgian ale. The yeast aroma is interspersed with citrus notes. A slightly sweet finish drapes over the sides of the tongue leaving a long satisfying afterglow.

This cloudy golden ale poured with a lacy white head, eliciting a citrus aroma. There is a thin spicy flavor, not unlike a typical Belgian witbier, but with a slightly sweet finish. There is no hint of malt, as one would expect in this style of ale. Drinkable, but not distinctive.

cloudy dark orange colour, very creamy white head and a nice lace; yeasty aroma with notes of orange peel and candi sugar; fairly sweet, very soft mouthfeel, slightly bitter/sour, moderately dry amd long grapefruity/citrusy finish - gentle but pleasant

Bottled (BB 10/2008). Hazy yellow color, small white head. Aroma has citrus, leather and nuts, a bit like a heated tyre. Crisp, hard mouthfeel, lemony but ashy flavor. Weak leafy hops. In the finish some sugar sweetness. Empty without proper malt background. Some unique elements in this beer, but they are not all enjoyable.

Slear apple juice colored body. Towering bubbly white head. Sweet bubblegummy aroma, light citrus also. The flavor is pretty boring, bubblegum and some lemon. Leaves a lot to be desired. Over carbonated mouthfeel, to the point that each sip threatens to overwhelm the capacity of my mouth.

Draught - ’t Brugs Beertje - Brugge. A blonde coloured beer with a thin white head, and a touch of lacing. The aroma is lemony and yeasty but there is a lagerish type grassy note also. The taste is more of the same. A bland mixture of a heavy lager and a boring Belgian Ale means this beer doesn’t satisfy.
