COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle; Unfiltered.
In 2005 Xavier Vanneste, son of Mrs Véronique Maes, renovated and restarted the old brewery which had been in the family since 1856. He launched Brugse Zot, a new beer with a unique recipe. Today Brugse Zot is the only beer brewed in Bruges’ town centre!
The people of Bruges are known as "Brugse Zotten" (Bruges Fools), also known as "Brugse Jonckers"

bottle in a pint glass - pours pulpy golden orange with white head and some lacing. Nose is lemon peel and malts. Aroma is caramel malts, citrus hops and an almost wheat quality. Taste is sweet at first and bitter at the end. Finish is medium in length and quite dry. Not what I expect out of Belgium.

Bottle. Clear golden color with a nice big white head. Rather spicy aroma with yeast, fruits and hoppy notes. Spicy-sweetish flavor with a bit of malt, fruits, a hint of caramel, yeasty notes and a drier spicier finish with light alcoholic notes. Medium-bodied. OK.

on tap@De Halve Maan. (unfiltered version). Golden color, a bit hazy due to the fermentation. Nice lasting tall white head. Spicy aroma. A bit sweet, but very well balanced beer.

330 ml bottle dragged off from Brussels and had at home in Germany. Amber color with a big but short lasting white head. Aroma is spice and sweet fruits. Taste is good at first with some fruit and than falls into an offensive mess.

Tap, Eindhoven. Hazy gold. Bright hop aroma. Citrus and coriander. Sweet, then a mild hop hit. Syrupy finish.

Rather light aroma of citrus and fruits with some spices. Flavour is refreshing with lots of citrus and some spices. Better than the Zot Dubbel.

Bottle. Lovely pour before the particulates got dumped in...orange and hazy. Lovely perfume aroma. Spritzy but earthy. Floral and perfumed, but dry. Yeasty and fruity. The yeast comes out much more in the flavors, perhaps tainted by too many particulates in the pour ruining the structure of the beer. But it still finishes dry and good. Will certainly re-rate.
