In 2005 Xavier Vanneste, son of Mrs Véronique Maes, renovated and restarted the old brewery which had been in the family since 1856. He launched Brugse Zot, a new beer with a unique recipe. Today Brugse Zot is the only beer brewed in Bruges’ town centre!
The people of Bruges are known as "Brugse Zotten" (Bruges Fools), also known as "Brugse Jonckers"

Brewery closed at the time, having this in pub near it. Cool picture in bottle, joker hanging around. Dark yellow colored, cloudy appearance. Big white head. Yeast, spices and fruits in aroma. Medium bodied. Flavor is softly fruity, crispy hops and spices also available. MIld alcohol, yeast and caramel in aftertaste. Crispy palated beer.

Bottled. Aroma of citrus with a hint of peach. Dark golden color, white head, good lace. Light sweet, nice bitterness, light fruity, light malty, bit herbal. Refreshing, not complex but very pleasant.

Clear golden body with a half-inch, tightly bubbled white head. Honey, sweet floral perfume, dry biscuits, green and red apples, light grains, mild alcohol, fresh dough and some mild pine resin hop character. The body is light and crisp with a nice prickling of the tongue. The flavor is good with nice, light malty sweetness, floral elements and a very mild bitterness. The crisp fruity flavors mix with a punch of carbonation to really quench the thirst. This is a tasty, if not complex, beer that’s a great summer, sessionable quaff.

Poured almost clear yellow with a huge lasting white head. Aroma was of a sweet citrus hoppy smell. Very tingly metallic like flavor with a zippy finish.

12 oz bottle into a Tulip glass. Pours a cloudy yellow with a huge white and thick foamy head. Aroma contains notes of hops, citrusy fruits, and malt. Flavor brings a hop zest backed with Belgiany yeast to the tongue, along with a tang fruit flavor that is almost estringent. Hoppy palate ends the experience. Very crisp in the end. Good, but nothing to scream about.

Draft... RBSG2006... Clear, yellow ale with a large, creamy, white head. Excellent retention. Thick, stratus lacing. Soapy, breadsy aroma with a little citrus fruit. Pretty good balance. A little sweet, but not cloying. Well-bittered and slightly tangy. Medium-bodied with a very creamy mouthfeel and light carbonation. Crisp, dry finish.

Bottle sampled with Beerded_one. Pours golden with a large white head. Aroma of sweet malts, citrus, fruit, and slight hops. Flavor is sweet upfront, citrus, fruit, lively carbonation, bittering hops in the finish. Good body, good brew.

Rich gold in color with a thick, white head that is rocky and fat-bubbled. Sweet banana that is rich and luscious without being overdone encompasses the aroma. Overall, the effect is a nice, appetizing sweetness. Flavor is not as lush as the aroma but it is only 6%. I can only assume they are attempting a copy of Leffe. It has a nice dryness and is unassuming with a great drinkability.
