In 2005 Xavier Vanneste, son of Mrs Véronique Maes, renovated and restarted the old brewery which had been in the family since 1856. He launched Brugse Zot, a new beer with a unique recipe. Today Brugse Zot is the only beer brewed in Bruges’ town centre!
The people of Bruges are known as "Brugse Zotten" (Bruges Fools), also known as "Brugse Jonckers"

UPDATED: MAR 29, 2010 I walked by a dry-cleaners at 3:00 in the morning and there was a sign on the door that said, "Sorry, We Are Closed." You don’t need to be sorry. It’s 3:00 in the morning, and you’re a dry-cleaner... it would be ridiculous for me to expect you to be open. .. . gold on the pour.. . big wispy head, lacing is killer .. . muddled and more muddled .. pretty damn sweet .. . a good Belgian but very middle of the road ..

The aroma is fruity and metallic with malt, spice, and yeast. The appearance is golden with a large head. The flavor has bananas, cloves, malt, spice, and grass. The palate is thin. Overall an interesting but average beer.

baraciisch (2800) - California, USA - MAR 30, 2009
Light orange to gold in color, slightly cloudy, thin foam head, sweet crisp wheaty flavor, slightly bitter finish on the palate, aroma is slightly yeasty, never been a big fan of the blonde ale, trippel is better but not bad nonetheless... Like a wheat beer with a pilsner finish
