Commercial Description:
Bottle; Unfiltered.
In 2005 Xavier Vanneste, son of Mrs Véronique Maes, renovated and restarted the old brewery which had been in the family since 1856. He launched Brugse Zot, a new beer with a unique recipe. Today Brugse Zot is the only beer brewed in Bruges’ town centre!
The people of Bruges are known as "Brugse Zotten" (Bruges Fools), also known as "Brugse Jonckers"

Pretty disappointed. Tap in tulip glass. Nose is yeast and citrus. Taste is citrus, spice, some floral notes. Not much flavor, though. Everything seemed muted. I was unhappy and unsatisfied.

On Tap. Pours a clear yellow/orange colour with good carbonation and a small size head. Can smell citrusfruits and spices there, mainly th citrusfruits though. Taste is also lemony and some other citrusfruits. Also there is some hops there and has a nice bitter taste. Goes down well, can’t taste any of the alcohol.

The most noticeable thing about this pour is the huge and numerous pieces of suspended yeast. It is a golden beer with a white head that, while not large, has good retention. The aroma is yeast and spice. Flavor is peppery spice, soapy, earthy, grainy, buttery. Plenty of zest lights up the tongue. The yeast remained suspended throughout the glass never settling at all.

Bottle. Pours a gold color with a medium-sized white head. Smells of yeast, spice, and pepper. Taste is herbal with citrus and pepper characteristics as well. It’s solid, but nothing really stands out about it.

Golden colored with decent spread of foam. Sweet, piquant pepper, and light yeast notes initially waft from the glass followed by light grainy malt. Flavor is rather unimpressive, but easy drinking. Herbal, light lemony character with a touch of hot pepper spice. Carbonated and lively body that pricks the tongue. Sprightly. A solid spring-time brew.

A golden ale with a thick white head. A rather sweet floral aroma, with strong phenolics and bananas. In mouth, a sweet fruity sugar taste with buttery mouthfeel. Medium bodied. A bit dissapointed about this one. Bottle at Kaffee de Hopduvel, Gent, Nov. 2006.
