COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle; Unfiltered.
In 2005 Xavier Vanneste, son of Mrs Véronique Maes, renovated and restarted the old brewery which had been in the family since 1856. He launched Brugse Zot, a new beer with a unique recipe. Today Brugse Zot is the only beer brewed in Bruges’ town centre!
The people of Bruges are known as "Brugse Zotten" (Bruges Fools), also known as "Brugse Jonckers"

33 cl. bottle. Clear gold, lots of effervescence produces a large, durable whtie head ad a thick lace. Fresh grainy aroma, light fruits add to the mix, and hints of spice become slowly apparent. Clean and dry, light body, and as noted, brightly effervescent. Light honey sweetness with the delicate balance of peppery hops is quite refreshing. Very drinkable, not an assertive beer, but it’s subtlety is intriguing.

750 ml 2007 bottle split in Duvel glass. clear golden with lasting white head and lace. Enticing and assertive spicy yeasty zesty floral aroma. Very mild honey sweetness with with apricot/cantaloupe fruitiness and spicy dry finish with a little carbo bite and some wateriness. Quaffable, almost to a fault. The flavor doesn’t quite live up to the aroma. But still, very good. I could drink this all night.

Clear dark gold, but downright chunky with flocculated sediment. Very exuberant off-white head. Floral and carbonic notes combine well in the aroma, something of a champagne character. Flavor overall fruity, pear, strawberry, melon, against a yeasty-must background. Very lively palate, but chunks large enough to feel as your drink are a bit much for me.

Bottle at Lord Rodney, Keighley. Refreshing with an instant burst of lemon that stays with the finish. Fresh, early-morning aroma. Very easy drinking. Good stuff.

On tap at the brewpub in Brugges. A nice yellow/orange beer with a decent sized head. The aroma is zesty and hoppy. The taste is fresh, peachy and spicy. Not bad at all.
