Bottle at Lord Rodney, Keighley. Refreshing with an instant burst of lemon that stays with the finish. Fresh, early-morning aroma. Very easy drinking. Good stuff.

On tap at the brewpub in Brugges. A nice yellow/orange beer with a decent sized head. The aroma is zesty and hoppy. The taste is fresh, peachy and spicy. Not bad at all.

It is a paler Belgian ale. Very clean, nicely hopped, spicy. I had it a bit cold at the bar.

UPDATED: APR 16, 2012 Pours a cloudy golden to orange beer. Creamy thick white head. Smell of citrus and pepper. Very pleasing full mouthfeeling. Tastes some bitter with alcoholsweetness and spices. A dry, somewhat lemony but mainly bitter aftertaste.

One of the most heavily sedimented ales I’ve ever had, there are large clumps floating in this. The aroma is of citrus and yeast/bread. The flavor is of citrus and slightly spicy. This was pretty good but the sediment was so heavy that it sort of overwhelmed the flavor with bread in the finish, not a bad thing for a German beer, but sort of odd for a Belgian ale, although not necessarily a bad thing, just different.

Pflichtbier in Brügge!

On tap in SF at La Trappe Belgian Restaurant. Nice head. Very smooth for a strong beer. Had a malty aftertaste that kept me wanting more.

Slightly darker amber than I was expecting with biggish white head about a finger thick. Classic Belgian ale aromas of lemons, armpit yeast and sour lollies. It’s that smell of not pungent, but chemical lemon, but it isn’t awful. To taste it is cleansing and has flavours of mature lemon zest and juices. It has a more golden tang than I can verbally appreciate: it is appreciably gorgeous. There are layers to this beer when you taste it: initial sourness and then it becomes lemon tart sweet and that’s the way it finishes. To be fair it undergoes a transaction on the tongue, leaving behind a happy lemon meringue flavour that is quite gratifying.
This is more of a buxom girl’s kiss than a tasting of a beer.
A new favourite of mine

Apart from everyone else it seems, I found the aftertaste fo this beer exquisite. Its a nice mix between a light and a dark beer. highly recommended.
