11.2oz Bottle. The pour was a murky gold with a light brown hue and a small (1 finger or less) white fizzy head that diminished rapidly down to a thin film with a small collar, which did create some fair runny lacing. The aroma was of a light grain malt and a musty doughy yeast with notes of apple, pears, banana and a hint of spice. The taste was very malty with a nice fruity ester from the beginning, and then progressed with a strong yeast presence and a mild spicy bitterness towards the end. The flavor lingered for an average amount of time after the swallow, with a mild alcohol warming sensation at the very end. Mouthfeel was light in body and watery in texture with a ticklish carbonation. Overall this was a somewhat light Strong Ale both in body and in flavor, although it does offer an exceptionally smooth drinkability...

Bottle sample at a tasting at Alexei and Raphaela’s. Thanks Yoav. Hazy blond. Straw, some minerals, a little green hops and slightly toasted aroma. Bitter and quite crispy taste. Medium body, very fizzy, bitter, malty finish. OK.

Bottle: Hazy orange-amber with a thin, quick, white head. Yeast, light fruit, apple aroma. Taste is sweet/tangy yeast, light fruit....apricot, apple, pear. Very delicate for the size, the sweetness increases as it warms....pleasant.

750 ml bottle from BevMo Escondido. Pours cloudy gold with minimal head and slight lacing. Aroma of grain (wheat), some spice and earth. A good solid Belgian Blonde Abbey Ale, nice balance of sweet, bitter, and sour, with a tangy aftertaste. Some floral and grass, well crafted ale, would revisit.

The original Saint-Martin abbey beer, to which the qualification "Blonde" was added in 2007 when the brown version was born. Yeasty, estery blonde beer with moussy head, somewhat thinnish body, sweetish malts, spicy yeastiness, medium bitter finish. Very ordinary and not very balanced, but may have improved since then so I plan to re-rate this.
