mgermani (665), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jun 4, 2008 Pours a deep ruby with a tinge of purple and loose-bubbled head that lasts about as long as it takes to write this first sentence. Aroma is fig, plum, alcohol, but mostly berry. I have to say that I dig this blueberry taste - if it had attempted to pass itself as a blueberry dubbel I would have been elated but as a straight dubbel it’s a bit off-kilter. Plenty of diacetyl in the finish with a hint of spice - as it warms it reminds me of your typical grape soda. No hops to speak of. Body is overcarbonated and thin. I do like the blueberry taste, and would probably drink this again, but it’s probably not a good example of the style.
gmonroe10 (128), Netherlands Dec 22, 2008 Pours a dark brown, well carbonated beige head. Nose is a bit sweet, but certainly spiced- anise. Flavor is extremely smooth- sweet malts and well carbonated (not overly so like the blond). Also smooth finish- moderate bitterness, but more immediate sweetness. Enjoyable. DuffMan (2194), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Dec 14, 2008 Deep brown pour that is slightly hazy. Sweet aroma of prunes and quince. Stewed fruits dominate the palate as well. Some light spice and wood. Rather thin mouthfeel to me. Darkover (1239), Columbus, Ohio, USA Dec 3, 2008 Dark amber color with a big tan head. Aroma of sour dark fruits and some spice. Flavor of dark fruits, some sourness, and a little chocolate. daniele (992), Italy Nov 26, 2008 scura schiuma media abbastanza persitente note fruttate in bocca maldo dolciastero le tostature sono poche l’amaro non è in rilievo gli estrei ciu sono ma non moto di più travita (908), Lewisville, Texas, USA Oct 31, 2008 Smell is grapes, alcohol, apple, fruits, very fruity.
