Top fermented and bottle conditioned beer. An exceptionally spicy aroma of rare malts and hops are blended in this Christmas Ale.

JPDIPSO (4957) - Wauwatosa, USA - JAN 24, 2010
Hazed, muddy brown color with a small, stable ecru head. Lightly toasted rye bread and a mix of spices in the aromas. Some grains and meaty malt flavors. Iron and allspice join in the middle. Fairly dry and spicy with some yeasty flavors, that make it seem a bit "dirty".

Idiosynkrasie (518) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - MAY 14, 2012
330ml bottle. Clear dark amber colour with small creamy off-white head. Aroma has baked banana, candy sugar, cinnamon, orange zest. Taste readopts those flavours and becomes bolstered by lemon and orange juice notes. Degenerates sadly to a slender dry, almost soapy finish.

(Bottled) Robust spicy alcoholic boozed nose..like drunken ginger bread-men , like Christmas morning even if that’s cliche . foamy beige above jam color
spices bombard the palate , rich and chewey malts , lightly hoppy and dry...
Pleasant , but cumbersome in texture ...not something i’d wanna drink lots of.

BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 4, 2012
Dumpy 33cl bottle, best before Oct 2013, poured into a Westmalle chalice in March 2012, no sediment left the bottle. Clear body of a red/light brown colour, on top a poor, thin covering of off-white bubbles that started as a wisp and collar before settling into a even thinner top. The smell was of a banana milk shake with a liquorice stick in it. The taste also had banana overtones but the spritzy, lively mouthfeel ensured the milkshake thoughts (from the aromas) where eradicated straight away: it has a malty sweetness but no creamy/rich texture. Interesting, but very un-Christmassy in the flavours I picked up. The alcohol content sits below the surface nicely, so something is strong and powerful within the brew, I’m just missing the major points somehow. I liked it, but I’d never have guessed this was a Christmas beer from the taste and smell.

Bottle from Total Wine, Sacramento. Pours dark brown with a nice beige head and a treacle and candi sugar aroma. There is a hearty dark malt flavor with candi sugar and a lot of spice. There is a soapy finish that detracts from the otherwise good brew.

From bottle. Cloudy, amber color. Some citrus on the nose, orange peel? On the palate it is surprisingly refreshing for this alcohol content. Nice caramel sweetness, and lots of spice, cloves, some cinnamon, licorice and orange peel, but not so much spice that it becomes dominant. Wonderfully balanced. A great christmas beer.

JanLaursen (1078) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - DEC 26, 2011
Bottled: Unclear orange-red beer with a short but foamy light orange head. Aroma is malty and spicy with strong notes of cloces, cinnamon, star anise and nutmeg. Taste is medium sweet, spicy and light bitter. The spices are too harsh and overpowering. Body is medium, texture is creamy, carbonation is soft. Much too much x-mas here.....
