SHIG (1731), Oberoffligen, Germany Jun 14, 2008 Bottle: Poured a murky orange with a lot of carbonation. Head was an off white that foamed at first but quickly subsided to leave a wet mouth behind. Aroma is strong with alcohol and yeast. Taste was a bit citrus with caramel malts of sweetness.
yngwie (3893), Kristiansand, Norway Dec 30, 2008 Bottle. (as Blonde Biologique) A slightly unclear dark golden-orange beer with a good carbonation and a dense finger-thick white head. Quite fruity nose, overripe fruits I think, sweetish and with a touch of spicyness. Effervescent in the mouth, with flavors of pale malt, fruits, banana and pear mostly, a little yeasty touch and a hint of spices. Medium body. Some bitterness in the finish, but mostly malty sweet with fruityness and a touch of spicyness. There’s also a little note of alcohol in the finish, giving a pleasant warming feeling. Easy to drink, but rather boring. A little too low on almost everything. (081213) OleR (1434), Oslo, Norway Oct 10, 2008 330 ml bottle. Big, mostely lasting white head. Misty, yellow colored body. Weak aroma; crisp wheats with dusty hops and a discreet whiff of spice and fruit. Dry fruity, dry wheaty flavor. Notes of light sour malts and herbs. Light-bodied. A minimum of hops included. Short acidic-bitter finish. larsga (2473), Oslo, Norway Oct 1, 2008 Gushed out of bottle on opening. Big coarseish white head doesn’t last. Hazy opaque orange body. Thin fruity peppery aroma with herbal wheaty notes. Initially also a powerful aroma of bread, but this dissipated after a while. Dry-sweet wheaty coriander taste with herbal yeasty fruitiness. Fizzy mouthfeel. Thinnish body. Dry herbal grassy aftertaste with dandelion notes. Decent, but a bit boring. (0.33l bottle, wine monopoly, Oslo.) Sigmund (2011), Hafrsfjord, Norway Sep 21, 2008 330 ml bottle, simply called Brunehaut Blonde, Bière Biologique (Organic Beer), courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.5%. Cloudy golden colour, big white head. Moderate wheaty aroma, hints of banana and cloves. Fizzy mouthfeel. The flavour is moderately yeasty and slightly citrussy, but otherwise fairly bland. Minimal hops. Not much here to get excited about. The alcohol is well hidden though. harrisoni (5605), Ashford, Kent, England Sep 8, 2008 Bottle from Dranken Geers. Gold, lasting white head. Some Belgian yeast on aroma, some hop. Bit of toffee in mouth. Some hop on end. Not a great blond. Toffee in the middle makes little sense and it isn’t really hoppy enough for a blonde. OK, but too much sweet toffee.
