3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BeerCast_Rich (1197) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - AUG 26, 2011
[cask at the Brunswick Inn, Derby] Deep blackish/brown pour with maybe a touch of red in there. Good white head, lasts a long time. Ticks all the boxes in the classic British porter style – dark in colour, coffee, a bit of chocolate on the nose, lightly roasted taste - session beers don’t have to be straw-coloured and hoppy. Does lack a bit of body in the finish, but highly drinkable [18042009]
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 downender (4382) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - DEC 7, 2010
Cask-conditioned at the Derbyshire beer festival, Seven Stars, Bristol 6/12/10. Near black with a touch of red and decent, off-white head. Sweetish fruity aroma with a touch of lactose and roasty malts, Flavour of milk chocolate and berry fruit with a dryish finish. Good, but as others have noted, lacking in oomph.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 sm89walt (1419) - Norwich, Norfolk, ENGLAND - OCT 12, 2010
Cask - The Brunswick Inn, Derby. Poured a dark, ruddy brown with a lasting yet small, creamy tan head. Red berries, some smoke and roasty, coffee notes on the aroma. Similar on the tongue: a distinct red berry tang and a smokey, roasty bitterness in the finish. Soft on the palate, good length tang and smokey bitterness, medium-ish body.

Cask at the Brunswick, Derby. This porter has some pleasant smoky and coffee characteristics but is too watery to be an especially good porter.
