Hazy gold beer with a little white head. Palate is minerally crisp and dry. Light creamy malt, semi dry. Orangey hops, a little tangy and a little sharp with a good dose of lemon. Finishes smooth with a mellow bitter linger. Pretty decent - like the hop profile and hope to try Smaragd hops again.

Bottle at Pigs Ear 2014. Hazy amber lasting thin white head. Sherbert hop aroma. Over carbonated. Some toffee sweetness. Aroma is good but not so keen on the body mouthfeel or malts. Some carbonic acidity on the finish. Aroma is hoppy and good the rest doesn’t deliver.

Tap at Kitty’s. Hazy orange color, medium-sized creamy white head, lots of lace. Aroma has citrus, gooseberry and banana. Medium-bodied. Citrus, gooseberry bush and banana in the flavor. A bit glueish. Hopfenweisse-like Ipa. Not my favourite.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Colin for this guy. Pours mostly clear with a cream, white head. The nose has dry, pale bread, grains, hay. Medium sweet flavor with some Belgian yeast, bubblegum, bitter grain husks, sugary wheat. Light bodied with average to lively carbonation. Sweet finish with dry pale malts, citrus, bitter hay, grains, bubblegum. Meh. OK.

Bottle, bought @ Delices et Caprices, Brussels. Pours hazy orange amber with a large, frothy, white head. Aroma has lots of fresh hops, citrus, peach, red apple, light grass. Medium carbonation, fine dry and quite oily mouthfeel. Flavour is very elegant, crisp malts, citrus, pine, peach. Good lingering bitterness. Light warming. Nice.

Bottle at a Jack is back tasting affair, from Toby at Kernel - cheers dude, 06/03/14. Hazed orange amber with a big old off white covering that stays for the show. Nose is tarte fruits, sharp red grapefruit, bitter orange, subtle spices. Taste comprises sharp citric fruits, mandarin, grassy, punchy hops, peach. Medium bodied, lick of spritz to the carbonation, clean close. Ok IPA.

330ml bottle (Koht, Tallinn)
Initially quite pungently hopped, with that belgo-frankish saisony yeasty twist to the aroma. Hazy straw, persistent tight spongey head. Taste initially gives me an off coconuttiness, please may this not be the dreaded sorachi ace. Anna’s cloudier one didn’t have that, it was full, thicker, stodgier even with bready grains. Mine’s more pungent, crisper feel too. Odder, more characterful. Belgian IPA isn’t my style, I like my blondes and triples nobler. But this does have a nice weirdness to it.

Bottle shared with Joes and Dutchdrebus @ weekly tasting. Hazy orange color, huge white to off-white head. Aroma is malts, orangepeel, hops. Taste malts, orangepeel, a lemon-like sourish hint, yeasty. A bit like a citrus-hoppy saison. Firm carbonation, lightly oily texture, medium body. As an IPA I don’t find this a great succes, but it’s a nice beer for sure.

My Bottom Line:
This dry Belgian IPA focuses on tropical fruit flavors (hops and esters) leading to resinous hop bitterness.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A steady head of foam covers the misty pale amber shine.
-The aroma could be brighter, juicier.
-The hop bitterness is quite potent, probably due to the dryness and high effervescence.
-This is nicely drinkable.
-This may not be reinventing the wheel, but it is still a professional, flavorful brew.
