robinvboyer (1419), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Oct 11, 2008 very very pale yellow, looks quite wattery. Aroma is quite limp, touches of lemon, and some faint corriander, but a big note of mealy, grainy wheat. The flavor on the other hand, is awful, this had to be an off bottle. Its getting a grainy, meally straight up catfood flavor. Stick your nose into a can of cheap catfood, and that is what i’m tasting. Skidds (252), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Sep 24, 2008 Overall, you can’t go wrong with Witbier, but this one fell short in comparison to others I have tried, including Canadian brewed wits. Tasted watery and lacked much aroma. Not bad by any means, but I wasn’t very impressed.
Aroma may turn some off as the orange peel is strong but it is balanced by a crisp biscuity tone and some light spice.
Eructoblaster (1477), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Sep 19, 2008 Bottle - 330ml. Hazy blond body with good carbonation and an instant-fading white bubbly head. Decent maltyèhoppy aroma with yeasty, grassy, and citrusy hints. Taste is well balanced, but lacks some fruitiness. It ends with a solid malty/hoppy finish. Average Witbier. PaulHegedus (458), Georgetown, Ontario, Canada Sep 18, 2008 Bottle. Pours yellow/white, a bit like cheap cloudy after-church apple juice, with a fast disappearing head. I smell heavy lemon, hard candy, a bit of sourness. The mouthfeel is thin and carbonation seems light. The flavour is brief: lemon rind, orange and something a bit like what cardboard might taste like, papery, with a bit of sour apple. yarry (370), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada Sep 16, 2008 330ml bottle, 5.5% a/v
Pours an unusual gold colour, almost orangey, very colourful and effervescent. The aroma is bananas, cloves, orange, grapefruit and a bit of bubblegum. The taste is fairly plain to be honest, doesnt live up to the aroma. Still good but somewhat bland. Aftertaste is neat, much of the flavours that are lacking in the first sips. Overall a decent white, but make it a little more tasteful please! DerWeg (748), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 16, 2008 330ml from lcbo.
Bottle 33cl LCBO.
APPEARANCE Semi-hazy yellow-blonde pour with fine carb & fine small dense head that swirls on glass leaving a silky trace.
AROMA sweet fresh and open, faint top notes of cola and sarsaparilla, phenols of clove, pepper, esters of ripening pear, light caramelly malt.
TASTE peppery-feeling clove notes, pear and very ripe pale fruit, swells a beautiful middle note of lemon marmalade, sweet wheat malt, a subtle white-wine alcohol presence, finish semi-sweet with some bitter hops. Lively mouth-dancing feel... a refreshing pale Belgian with just a bit of a dark side.
