burcusabrews (106), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA Aug 23, 2004 citrusy nose of lemon and cloves, mild hops and a trace of Brett. Pours cloudy yellow in a glass with a trace of a white head. Extremely clean flavors by no means over-the-top which I have found in many belgian wits. Flavors of banana and white chocolate. I would rank this with Ommegang’s Witte as the two best belgian wits that I have tried (although, I am not particularly fond of the style) tomthompson89 (1460), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 4, 2007 wonderful witbier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! citrus nose somwhat musty but no bacon... sorry Harry.... cloudy hazy , spicy, citrus taste. very refreshing, one of my fav witbiers. DerWeg (750), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 16, 2008 330ml from lcbo.
Bottle 33cl LCBO.
APPEARANCE Semi-hazy yellow-blonde pour with fine carb & fine small dense head that swirls on glass leaving a silky trace.
AROMA sweet fresh and open, faint top notes of cola and sarsaparilla, phenols of clove, pepper, esters of ripening pear, light caramelly malt.
TASTE peppery-feeling clove notes, pear and very ripe pale fruit, swells a beautiful middle note of lemon marmalade, sweet wheat malt, a subtle white-wine alcohol presence, finish semi-sweet with some bitter hops. Lively mouth-dancing feel... a refreshing pale Belgian with just a bit of a dark side. obisbeer (558), Barcelona, Spain Jul 15, 2004 Golden yellow w/fine white head. Light corriander, some metal, marshmallow, with light citrus lemon. Light on palate, slightly creamy, some sweetness and citrus, with a honey/vanilla quality. I enjoyed the delicateness of this very much. pintbypint (1002), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Aug 1, 2004 Smaple taken from 330ml green bottle. Cloudy pale yellow brew. Aroma was initially a little skunky, they I detected notes of honey. Thin head clings to the edges of the glass. Smooth and lightbodied. Initially sweet (honey and orange) it gives way to a dry finish. Seemed to be a lighter interpretation of the style. Refreshing. wilderthanyou (411), Guelph, Ontario, Canada Sep 11, 2008 Pours a pale hazy yellow with some alright white head that sticks around for the show. The aroma is of yellow banana Popsicles. The flavour is pretty good, light and refreshing, with banana cream pie being the most prominent flavour, a touch of spice near the finish. Watery mouthfeel but it works out ok. Nice and refreshing with enough flavour to stay interesting. JesseM (661), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Sep 7, 2008 Updated: Jun 6, 2009330mL bottle from the LCBO. Pours a really nice hazy white/yellow with a medium white head. Aroma is your typical Wit characters, wheat malt and yeast and etc. Didn’t seem particularly interesting upon the sniff. But the flavour is actually quite good, at least to me and Wit’s generally aren’t my thing. Very nice sweet malt body with a touch of yeasty dryness in the finish. Very smooth for the style, with moderate carbonation, and that’s where this one really wins me over. Mild sour aspect to the finish and aftertaste as well. Nothing out of this world, but a great refreshing Wit that’s not as harsh to drink as a lot of others with more rough and excessive carbonation. I’m glad the LCBO finally released this one from captivity. DaSilky1 (1933), San Diego, California, USA Sep 1, 2004 poured what seemed to me a perfect wit color with that hazy white with subtle shades of green and a large, lacing white head...citrusy aroma (tangerine)...spritzy, yeasty, wheaty, & citrusy with solid spicing (white pepper & coriander...nice and full bodied...quite nice for the style, i would say...not that im a huge fan of the style.
