Grandissima barley wine!!!

In bottiglia. Colore marrone scuro, schiuma fine e poco persistente. Aroma di frutta secca, prugna, nocciola, caffŤ , tostato, cioccolato amaro. Ottima bevuta!

Semi opaque brown - red beer, decent pale tan head. Smooth palate, airy and semi dry with mild fine carbonation. Toffee streaked malts, dark toffee. Mild malt cream. Some earthy bitterness and mild dark fruits. Smooth semi dry finish. Smooth, tasty and fairly easy drinking for a 10% barleywine.

Bottle at Pigís Ear 2014, thanks to Jackie & Simon. It pours deep mahogany brown with a small beige head. The nose is rich, toasty, toffee, crunchy nut cornflakes, fruit cake, butterscotch, nougat and Scottish tablet. The taste is sweet, boozy, fruit cake, syrupy, raisin, date, honey, warming alcohol, earth, toast, brandy notes, light bitterness and stewed apple. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. A slap of bitterness counteracts some of the sweetness. All comes together rather well.

Bottle, pours a deep orange-brown with no head, hints of Seville orange, pepper and chocolate toffee on the nose. Syrupy and dry-sweet, with more orange notes over a warming caramel body. The alcohol is well hidden, emerging as a drying effect that moderates the caramel and brings out an earthy bitter edge.

Bottle by my friend John. Pours dark brown with almost no head and a slightly sour fruity aroma. There is a flat citrus and dark molasses flavor with a bitter dry finish that sticks to the palate.
