750ml capped bottle pours a hazy dark brown color with a 2 finger off-white head that leaves some spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma is mild with some caramel and honey and hints of spices. Taste is a honey and caramel malty sweetness with hints of spice and a mild herbal hop bitterness. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation leaving a pleasant sensation on the palate. A very interesting and unique ale that is highly recommended.

Bottle - 750ml. Hazy brown body with a thin beige foamy head. Strong, complex malty/hoppy aroma with brown sugar, spicy, and cinnamon hints. Taste is quite decent, but not as robust as the aroma. It carries spicy, woody, and brown sugar notes. Ends with a good bittersweet finish. Enjoyable Christmas beer.

In short: An overly spicy (xmas beer style) strong ale with a hard-candy character
How: Bottle 750ml. Consumed when about 6+ months of age. Sent to me by matt7215, thanks a lot Matt
The look: Murky amber-brown body topped by a quickly diminishing beige head leaving minimal lacings. A very ugly beer.
In long: Nose is has a strong complex spiciness and a sour-ish component that I’d describe as Flemish Sour. Taste has a lot of things going on, this is far from a flavourless beer. Grainy toasted malts, Christmas beer spices (cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg), candied apples, pancake syrup, yeast, hard candies. Also some fresh cherries, tannins as well as a surprising oaky-sour character (surprising because I don’t think the beer is oak-aged). Very little sweetness apparent for a 9.5% brew but this is certainly because my taste buds were saturated by the spices. Not bad, not good and very spicy. But what really stands out about this beer is how ugly it looked. Like a glass of mud. Very very ugly, it went down ok, but I hope it won’t call me back tomorrow.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 MrManning (1982) - Hamilton, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 11, 2010
Bottle courtesy of Jimmay. Deep dark cola brown with a puffy off white foam. This beer has an interesting earthy and spicy nose with some notes of dark bread. I get lavender, ginger, and chestnut with wet autumn leaves. Tastes sweet, but not malty, and more spicy and earthy again. Honey, ginger, maple syrup and bread crust. But the beer isn’t necessarily sweet either. Very strange little beer but enjoyable. Medium bodied with a chestnut finish. Thanks Drew!
3.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Sammy (7120) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 29, 2010
Bottle at Chancey Smith, with Milos. Glad I caught up with this. Dark brown with an off- white pretty foamy head. A bit funky aroma. Sweet spicey, honey not noticeable up front, corriander, ginger, basil, oregeno and dill, fruity. Very drinkable and unique. Easy mouthfeel, though some sourness in the finish way offset by the sweet spice.
