First time at the brewpub, I only had this stout. Almost no foam, texture is watery, nothing creamy. Taste is indeed chocolaty, just a little coffee, with not much bitterness (Try Naufrageur’s Saint-Barnabé, available at Peluso, to see how great a hoppy stout can be). This Brutopia Stout is an amateur brew, mostly because of the texture

From tap at the brewpub. Pours dark brown to black with a small, creamy and tan head. Aroma is roasted dark malty and slight chocolate to chalky notes. Roasted malty and slight bitter. Dry, chocolate and toasted malty into a dry finish.

on tap at the brewery. dark brown, tint of red, but almost black, with relatively thin but creamy dark beige head, very nice lacing. very soft carbonation, silky, but a little thin on the palate (considering the appearance, etc.). strong coffee and chocolate notes, nothing really complex, but does the job right. good supporting hops - grassy. long bittering finish. clearly underrated brew !

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a nice black color with a medium light brown head. A light coffee and roast nose. The flavor is pretty basic; smooth coffee and chocolates, nothing offensive. A thin palate.

Tap at Brutopia. Pours a deep brown not quite black at all- thinning head. Aroma is nutty chocolate, mint, pine, plastic, roast and light stale coffee grinds with light butter. Flavor is plastic, fusel, grass, roast, chocolate, burnt ashy notes, and a thin weak watered down finish.

Dark and somewhat clear, moderate head. Smells sweet. Pretty dilute, sweet in flavor, an unfocused brew. Did not enjoy.

Draught. Mondiale 2009 - day 2. Thick-looking black pour with a solid thick creamy tan head - 4+! Aroma of baker’s chocolate, burnt treacle, mint and cream. The taste was like an incredibly smooth and creamy overly roasted choco-desert - thick, a little undercarbonated, with a nice long burnt candy linger - this really wow’d me - a bit like St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout, only thicker and somewhat "creme brulee’d"
