3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A dark amber beer with a small beige head. The aroma is sweet malty and slightly roasted. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, nuts, and roasted malt, leading to a dry end. A nice brown ale with a nice body (for a brown ale).

Nut brown (of course!). Nicely malty, somewhat sweet, rather low bitterness. A too bit mainstream.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draught at the brewpub. Dark brown colour. Sparkling. Very small light brown head. The flavour is slightly roasted. Hint of cream and sweetness, but not much. A little OK earth in the finish.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
UPDATED: MAY 23, 2004 Nothing like I remember it. It is brown, but has no nut. Some sweetness, underdeveloped malts. Again, too sweet and the flavours haven't come together yet. More fermentation is required and this endemic brewing flaw makes this brewpub a disaster to me.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Deep brown in colour with a light caramel nose. Lightly roasted malts with little character, no hops, on the sweetish side. Very little body. oh-hum,

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
draught@brewpub - hazy dark brown beer with a small head left; nice lace; solidly toasted malty and biscuity aroma, notes of hazelnut; a respectable malt backbone, pretty bitter and tasty; long toasted malty finish with more notes of nuts and some hoppy tones - balanced; a nice one

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Draft... Clear, dark, ruby ale with a small, creamy, khaki head. Buttery, chocolatey nose. Perfectly-balanced, chocolatey flavor with too much butterscotch. A touch of coffee. Lightly bitter. Light-bodied and just barely creamy with medium carbonation. Finishes crisp, clean and refreshing. I’m not so sure a brown ale is supposed to be quite this refreshing. Another thin beer from Brutopia that’s short on malt and big on diacetyl.
