4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 DenisLD (87) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 22, 2009
Clear dark brown body, with a thin head and some nice lacing. Smells of roasted malts, with some hazelnut nuttiness and dark fruits. The taste kicks off with an awesome combination of roastiness and sweetness. Some pronounced hazelnut notes. Medium-bodied and exceptionally smooth. Highly drinkable. This is one of the best nut brown ales I’ve ever had and is virtually as good as the original from Samuel Smith’s, which I recently had, and it’s still fresh in my memory. The fact that many people rated this much lower makes me wonder if I just tried it from a very good batch, though...
