3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 TBone (9414) - Pori, FINLAND - JUL 28, 2008
Draught@SOPP, alc. 9%+
Amber color, beige head. Fruity, toffeish, a bit alcoholic aroma. Toffeish, a bit alcoholic, thin mouthfeel. Light hoppy bitterness. Not abbey trippel, more like a pale barley wine.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Tranquillity (1338) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - JUL 15, 2008
Draught. Pineapple, peach, subtle aroma. Taste fruity, but very sweet. Red-orange body with a tiny white head.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 raymondwave (931) - FINLAND - JUN 26, 2008
Tap at brewery. Dark hazy amber, somewhat sahti style looks, with very small bubbly head. Nose is mildly fruity, hoppy, malty. Flavor is cellary, alcoholic, malty, fruity, some liqourice and herbs maybe with small grassy hoppiness. This, like Valamo 1, is more like a barley wine than abbey ale. Kinda flat overall feel, not much carb.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 larsga (4661) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUN 21, 2008
Medium white head does not last. Light amber body. Fruity floral aroma, kind of neutral. Powerful sweet resiny honeyish taste with strong alcohol notes. Chewy candy aspect to it. Very sweet, a bit cloying. Noticeable alcohol heat and sharpness. No aftertaste. Definitely my second worst trappist ever, after the horrible Valamo 1. Oh well. (0.25l draft at the brewpub.)
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 mjs (2997) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUN 18, 2008
(Draught at Bruuveri on 2008-06-14) Almost clear. Amber colour. Hardly any head. Malts and alcohol in nose. Full palate with some sugar and carbonation. Salty liquorice, hints of syrup, hops and alcohol in taste.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 FatPhil (6207) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JUN 17, 2008
Draught (Bruuveri, Helsinki)
Clear deep orange, thin brief head. Sweet fruity and almondy alcoholic aroma. Very sticky mouthfeel. Burnt but slightly husky grainy taste. Bitter almondy finish. Has its merits, but is a little unsubtle.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 mto (92) - helsinki, FINLAND - JUN 15, 2008
(draught@panoravintola bruuveri) like valamo 1 but more alkohol. valamo 1 was better.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 sayravai (4548) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUN 14, 2008
(Draught@Bruuveri) Slightly hazy amber with a small head. Aroma of alcohol and gluey malt. Glue-solventy-alcoholic flavor with caramely malt and low bitterness. Medium-bodied, low-carbonated palate. Slightly better than the Valamo 1, but nothing compared to the Abbey beers from Ølfabrikken or Mikkeller - let alone the Belgians.
