What began as mutual admiration between Sierra Nevadaís Grossman Family and Russian Riverís Cilurzos has grown and progressed into genuine friendship. Brux began as an idea and has grown into something altogether different:

The liquid manifestation of change over time.

Refermented in the bottle with Brettanomyces bruxellensis, Brux will change and develop over time. Copper-colored, dry and complex, with slightly tart notes of green grass, pear, spice and lemon - this ale will progress in the bottle for many years.

Bottle pours a hazy golden color with a thin fizzy white head. Scent is fruit, yeast and musty. Taste is pear, herbal, a bit sour and a lot of tart.

Hazy orange pour with a big short-lived pilowy white head. Aroma was amazing. Sharp, tangy, earthy, spicy, some leathr notes. Excellent sniffer. The flavor fell down a bit though. Some spicy, funky leather notes, but no twang. Pretty mild actually. This one might have done well with some aging.

Draft @ SN & @ RR. Fairly clear golden with a white head. Aroma of spicy tart yeast, citrus, honey malt and light alcohol. Flavor is toasty malt, spicy yeast and some fruity esters, very mild alcohol taste. Medium body with active carbonation. This one is ok, not very funky at all but might get funkier with age.

Pours a darker cloudy orange with a few floaties. Aroma is citrus, banana, clove & yeast. Flavor is basically a Belgian pale ale with a slightly sour finish. Some banana, clove and a sour citrus finish. High carbonation. Overall ok. Kind of an almost sour. More beer please...

UPDATED: SEP 5, 2012 Pours golden amber with really no head. No real strong smell. Tastes yeasty....some alcohol....nice. Bubbly on the palate....tingles. indigestion.

Concealer (937) - Denver, Colorado, USA - AUG 30, 2012
Poured from bomber. Thin white head, doesnít stay long. Dark gold/orange color. A lot in the aroma: some funky sweet and sour with some earthy tones like yeast and malt perhaps. This is a subtle beer. I was expecting more sour but it is oh so slight. A nice dry finish that bring out the brett flavor. Honestly, there is a lot going on in this beer. Pretty tasty but it takes awhile to enjoy. Drink a glass or two before you really decide anything.

Poured from the bottle to a large stein. Comes out nice and orange hued. Plenty of head the dissipated quickly. But it keeps bubbling like a fountain soda. Dried orange peel on the nose with resiny hoppiness, and a banana nut bread. The palate doesnít have all that sweet banana which Iím glad about but there certainly is some sweetness in this beer. The hoppy flowers kind of linger in the background long into the finish becoming more apparent as everything else fades away. But there is also a herbal kineticness, if that makes any sense, to the finish on the back of the palate. Like mint or sage acting on your tongue minus the flavors. Strange. As I take more sips even more things come to mind. Wet forest floor, rotting wood sents. Not in a bad way. This is a very unique beer experience. I can say without contradicting myself here, its a very good beer, not my favorite but still worth the price, which was over the top. I say that because while I wouldnít drink it everyday, it definitely keeps you coming to the glass for something new. Its a complexity Iíd expect more from a wine then a beer.
