3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap (Bryggeri, Helsinki)
Pleasantish rich roast, hint of coffee, but a tiny little hint of sournes too. Lovely dark colour, almost black, persistent tight espresso head. More sourness in the taste, it’s clearly on the turn. However the roast is delicious. Tons of coffee, in particular in the finish. Nice full palate, pleasant carbonation. Damn, I can see why others gave it high scores, but alas I have to rate what’s in my glass. Dear brewer, please brew this again, so I can have a fresher sample - I promise I will give it a higher score! Really should rerate.

tap @ Nordic
Reddish dark brown, almost black beer with beige head. Aroma has tar, dark bread, chocolate and roasted malts. Flavor has roasted malts, coffee, bread and chocolate. Palate is quite thin with quite strong carbonation. Finish has quite mild bitterness with slight sourness. Aftertaste has coffee, roasted malts, chocolate, tar and sour berries. The sour berry thing feels like it does not belong here. Otherwise good, but too thin.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap @ St. Urho’s, Helsinki, Porter & Stoutpäivät 2014. Pours a dark brown with a wooden tinge. Good-sized, nice-looking, latte-colored head that disappear fairly quickly. Aroma is smoky, a lot of dark malt bread, roast, some liquorice, light cellar aroma. Might just be the smokiness. Taste is quite roasty, some smoke, some liquorice. Very full flavor in the middle, but turns rather light and watery on the finish unfortunately. Roast, light smoke and light wood on the aftertaste. Quite a lot of carbonation that masks the thin body in the middle, but unfortunately the wateriness comes through on the finish.
