Aroma has roasted malts and chocolate. Pours black with overwhelming head that leaves lacing. Taste has medium bitterness, light sweetness. Bitter coffee, roasted malts, chocolate. Thin body with lively carbonation. Bitter finish. Overall a eatery stout that lacks the balance of sweetness, bitterness and malts.

Bottle. Pours a black color with white head. Nice burnt, roasty, malty slight black licorice aromas. Burnt, roasty flavors. Lighter bodied and somewhat thin mouthful. Makes for a very drinkable stout.

   AROMA 8/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 7/10   PALATE 2/5   OVERALL 13/20
Marstonlad (592) - Helsinki, FINLAND - OCT 21, 2014
Pours black with a medium-sized, quickly fading head that leaves some lacing. The aroma has strong roasty maltiness with espresso, dark bread, licorice and chocolate – rich and pretty varied. Taste is dry, roasty and rich in dark malty elements such as coffee, licorice and bread. The palate is expectedly too light-bodied for a stout – one can only think how good this would be if stronger – but sufficiently smooth with a creamy texture. Decent as it is but hopefully Bryggeri Helsinki brews also a stronger stout one day.
