machfive55 (27), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA May 19, 2008 This was served on tap at the pub and was apparantly on nitro. It had a thick tight foamy head that lasted. A nice chocolately charachter with a nice mild smoothness and almost no hop presence. An excellent dessert beer to finish off a meal. DocLock (3958), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 11, 2006 They called this a nut brown, so I will rate it as such. The color was very deep brown with minimal off-white head. The aroma was nutty, providing almond, hazelnuts, walnuts, some roasty malt, toffee, and slight molasses notes. The palate was on the dense side and very complex, with more intermingling nuts than a party at Turbo’s house. I got the almond, walnut, and hazelnut flavors, plus a solid roasty malt, some chocolate, and slight molasses hints. I growlered this, and found it to be excellent. axilla (939), New Providence, Pennsylvania, USA May 21, 2006 Pours a clean, brown body with a small white head. The aroma is carmel, nuts, and dust. Flavors were walnuts, salt, pepper, mild carmel, and some mild earthy hops. One of the better browns I’ve had. TheBeerLover (1007), DC Metro Area, USA Jan 28, 2006 Bube’s Nut Brown Ale pours to a beautiful, bright, chest nut color with a thick and creamy white head, and a moderate amount of carbonation. The nose on this beer is very inviting with good aromas of sweet malt and nuts. The palate is soft on the tongue with lots of good sweet malty and nutty flavors. Bube’s Nut Brown finishes with more sweet malt and nuts, then ends with just enough hop bitterness to take the cloying edge off this beer.
This is a very well done, soft, sweet and nutty brown ale. It is a very food friendly beer, and would match well with a number of dishes on the Bube’s menu. I enjoy a nice pint of this one at the bar relaxing with friends, and soaking in the wonderful atmosphere at Bube’s. If you ever find yourself in Lancaster County PA, a trip to Bube’s Brewery in Mount Joy, is well, well worth the time and effort.
