Test vom 15.11.2006, Gebinde: Dose Noten: 5,7,8,8,6,6 - 6,65

Can. Clear golden. Maize in the nose and mouth. A stronger version of the same bland lager.

Pours a pale, straw color with a medium-white head. taste starts off like it intends to be a Corona clone and then fizzles into a typical "water brew". The solid amount of alcohol mixed with some hops (albeit hops with an extremely low IBU rating) keep this one in the game, but just barely.

What’s so terribly secret about the production process that culminates in this brew? There are hundreds of poor lagers like this one.

Can (RBSG)...how could I resist the label someone put on this! GOlden color with small sized white head. Grainy with some lighter sweetness. Thin and watery.

Shared 35 cl bottle from Høkeren, labeled “Cubanero Fuerte”. Clear sparkling golden with a white head. Malt sweet aroma, floral and estery notes. Sweet, light bitter and light alcoholic flavors. Watery, light to medium body. Bitter finish.

Draft. Thankfully this was the draft beer at the resort I stayed at in Cuba. Not that it was brilliant, but it was the best beer available in the Holguín area. Rather similar to a Canadian macro lager, which isn’t surprising given the Labatt’s connection, which means a deep gold colour and corny maltiness. I think 90% of the hops in Cuba made it into this brew (not that there were that many). Bucanero stood apart from the other local brews, seemingly more catered to Canadian/Commonwealth tastes rather than local preferences, and while it was all over the resorts it was strangely less prevalent in the city.

Just another island-style lager. Weak yellow, thin white head, light and refreshing on a hot day but nothing to write home about.

355 ml can. From Cuba. Thanks Jukka!
Clear pale golden colour with small white head. Fruity mild hoppy aroma. Somewhat watered down though. Malt, grain and sugary fruity flavour. Lager with some fruity twist. Drinkable.
