Bottle. Small qucily disappearing white head. Clear reddish body. Weak malt aroma. Too sweet, thought that it was brewed with corn.

OK, the first time I got this beer I drank it directly from the can, which made it taste even more like metal and ONLY alcohol, and the next one it was drunk by me from a nice stem glass, and then it got surprisingly better. Anyway it is not recommendable in any way, but interesting trying it.

Can. Sampled at a resort in Varadero, Cuba. Medium gold in color with lots of carbonation. Unmistakable malty aroma of unfermented wort which no homebrewer could mistake, along with a touch of herbal hops. Somewhat more robust than the other Cuban lagers that I sampled, but still a little on the thin and astringent side. Slight mineral flavor, along with a bit of malt and more German noble hops. Sort of like a poorly made Warsteiner.

Where else do you find a Cuban beer but in a supermarket in Kuala Lumpur? I will resist from making a joke about how many buckaneros it cost me but the picture of the pirate shows that he has a fine Ringgit in his ear (nyuk nyuk). Sure is a pale lager with all the hallmarks of its style. Strangely the lack of hop and malt flavour is so expected that it is a reasonable beer in comparison to the other beers up here apart from the meaty stouts of course. Still not a great beer of course but better consumed in an outdoor cafe than my air conditioned room.

(on bottle9 "Bucanero brings the mystery and passion of Cuba in a golden beer, with a vigourous and robust flavour. Our ancient and secret production process combines the finest selection of hops, water and malt. "
Yeah right, you, the lamest pirat of them all.

1.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 3/20
A yellow beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of corn, and so is the flavor, though in the flavor there are also traces of hops.

1.6 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Golden color, small white head. Aroma is rotten vegetables, grassy hops. Malty, harsh, some corn sweetness. Quite typical bulk lager with no big faults. New beer country for me!
