Shared 35 cl bottle from Høkeren, labeled “Cubanero Fuerte”. Clear sparkling golden with a white head. Malt sweet aroma, floral and estery notes. Sweet, light bitter and light alcoholic flavors. Watery, light to medium body. Bitter finish.

Draft. Thankfully this was the draft beer at the resort I stayed at in Cuba. Not that it was brilliant, but it was the best beer available in the Holguín area. Rather similar to a Canadian macro lager, which isn’t surprising given the Labatt’s connection, which means a deep gold colour and corny maltiness. I think 90% of the hops in Cuba made it into this brew (not that there were that many). Bucanero stood apart from the other local brews, seemingly more catered to Canadian/Commonwealth tastes rather than local preferences, and while it was all over the resorts it was strangely less prevalent in the city.

Just another island-style lager. Weak yellow, thin white head, light and refreshing on a hot day but nothing to write home about.

355 ml can. From Cuba. Thanks Jukka!
Clear pale golden colour with small white head. Fruity mild hoppy aroma. Somewhat watered down though. Malt, grain and sugary fruity flavour. Lager with some fruity twist. Drinkable.

35 cl bottle from Kvarterhusets Café. Pours a light golden, rapidly dissipating head. Smells weakly malty - like a standard-fare macrobrew lager. Taste a balanced and refreshing yet faint combination of hobs and malt. Stronger taste than standard Heineken and Carlsberg but not much more than that. Good in the carribean if nothing else is available I imagine.

20/01 0.35 l can, courtesy of Doggythedog, thanks for sharing a new beercountry! It poured golden body with medium sized head. Malty, corny and slightly sourish aroma. Sweet honey flavor, sourish corny and also a bit dusty. Lighter body with shorter, boring corny finish. Nor refreshing nor pleasant, it’s pretty much useless, no matter there is nothing too much wrong here.

Flaske 33 cl.

My best colleague in the world brought me this beer from Cuba, on which I thank her very much (there Nina, I said it :p :D). Shared with heavy.
Poured a golden(ish) body witha small white head that went away fast. Pollen and light sweat in the otherwise light malty nose, maybe some corn too, light sour note. Bready taste, vaguely corny. Light herbal hop, light sour note. Ordinary, drinkable and correct macro lager that would probably be much appreciated in the Cuban heat, but doesn’t stand out from the crowd otherwise (except for the can design, which is very nice).

Bottle. Somewhat fruity and grainy aroma, cookies and a bit of grass. Nice deep gold color witha medium, flufy head. Sweet malty flavor, bready, some grass and light fruit. nothing special, but not so bad really. Refreshing and clean, though a bit too sweet for sure.
