2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 RichardGretton (3759) - - JUL 26, 2011
Bottle. Copper coloured beer with a reasonable head. The aroma is lightly hopped and dry, and the flavour is bitter and fairly malty and caramel. Overall not as bad as the overall rating suggests.

Bottle (under the alias Cubanero Fuerte) from Cotteridge Wines, Pershore Road, Birmingham. Clear amber, no head. Fruity citrus aroma tinged with skunk. Awful mouthfeel - offensively fizzy and watery. Taste is mildly bitter nothingness, perhaps a hint of metal with a very short finish. I won’t be bothering with this again.
2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 blipp (3920) - Newark, New Jersey, USA - MAY 27, 2012
Can at James’ tasting. Pours gold with a white head. Grainy, lightly sweet, but no real off flavors. Really not that bad.
0.9 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20 Dashimus (63) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 27, 2012
Bottle. Pours yellow golden with a thick, white, short lived head. Aroma is virtually non existent except for a slight metallic malt. Taste is similar with overpoweringly metallic malt taste. Slightly dry in the mouth and refreshing when drink in the Cuban climate. Otherwise, avoid.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 jtclockwork (3837) - , New Jersey, USA - MAY 19, 2012
Can shared by Jay. Pours clear gold with white head. Nose of corn chips and sweet malt. Taste is mostly corn, raw barley and metallic corn. Light body.

Can courtesy of the breathtakingly gorgeous Dany that I took to a tasting at James’ place. Pours a clear gold with thin white head. Sweet corn, toasted corn, a touch of grain. Not a lot going on. Medium bodied, sweet, grainy. Again, not much going on, but it’s not that horrible. Soft bitter finish.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 11, 2012
Brown 350ml bottle, best before 1st Feb 2012, drank and reviewed July 2011: poured into a Duvel glass.
Looked fine, deep golden yellow with a thick snowy white head on top.
The only smells I could find were of grains and a nasty metalic hint.
The beer was initially refreshing and dry, but there was something wrong from the start also, it had that terrible metalic feel some cheap lagers have. The blend of hops and malts seemed to produce a nothing taste apart from that tinny flavour I picked up straight away and I really struggled to finish the bottle off.
2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Metalchopz (1427) - Quebec, CANADA - APR 10, 2012
Originally rated January 2005. Just came back from Cuba, and got a chance to try their second most popular brew - after Cristal. This one is a bit stronger as the name says: fuerte. Sampled from a 350ml brown bottle and also had it from a can. Poured a golden colour, deeper then average with a descent head. Some lacing was left on the glass and a small coating from the head stayed on the top of the beer the whole time. The nose was mostly malty. The mouth was of sweet malt, with mild bitterness and a smooth finish. Average mouthfeel with good carbonation. Overall, a better brew then Cristal, but pretty mild for a stronger beer.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 corpuscali (1) - - APR 4, 2012 does not count
Found this in Panama City, good overall beer. Initial taste hit me as sweet, but followed up well. Slightly on the soft side for a lighter beer. Overall, I would pick this up if I found it in the states.

Bottle 35cl (labeled Cubanero Fuerte). Pours clear golden with a small fast disappearing white head. Slightly better than Cristal, but still nothing to write home about. Another drinkable, but quite boring and pretty tasteless pale lager. I probably would not drink it again unless I somehow find myself on Cuba.
