3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 johnnnniee (880) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - JAN 11, 2012
Received in trade from mdaschaf, thanks for the opportunity!
Pours a slightly hazy reddish brown color with a smallish beige head with minimal retention and lace. Smell is sweet and malty with toffee and caramel being dominant in the nose. Hints of citrus, earth, and orange zest cut through the sweetness but this one leans heavy to the malt world. Taste is sweet and malty with caramel and toffee as advertised. A bit more earth and zest than citrus come through in the flavor. Medium to thin body with a high level of carbonation and a sweet almost sticky mouthfeel. Decent enough beer, but really nothing spectacular. Reminds me a lot of an English dark mild or a brown.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 PorterPounder (3936) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - JAN 6, 2012
Tallahassee, Fl - Fermentation Market - 16 oz can. Murky dark caramel colored pour with an off-white head. Aroma has a hint of citrus, a hint of spice - not very aromatic. Flavor leaves a lot to be desired. some light citrus, a hint of caramel, not much else. Mouthfeel is thick enough.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Benjii (1659) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - DEC 29, 2011
In a can. Pours a red colour with a decent, yellowish head. Aroma of orange, lemon and grapefruit. An interesting fruity flavour also with grapefruit quite prominent, orange and a little soap. A chewy mouth-feel, quite dry and tart also. Fruit tingles and grapefruit to finish.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Aurelius (3071) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - DEC 23, 2011
Sweet, raisiny aroma with a sharp edge. Good can. Surprising flavor - like red grapes initially - acidic, turning bitter. Medium to slightly light body. Toasted, raisin finish, tannic on the lips, a bit floral sometimes. Potential as marinade. Fermentation Market, Tallahassee, Christmas 2011.

can from paps 4/1/11.
red colored beer... almost looks like the can with a creamy white head on it.
it smells buttery?... lots of caramel corn, earthy spice, florals and ’green’ - like homebrew not yet ready to drink.
the flavor matches the aroma but with an additional note of a mildly bitter finish. oddly, it is clean...no lingering aftertaste.
medium bodied. crisp texture and carbonation. 5/4/5/3/13
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jjuf1853 (950) - Land O Lakes, Florida, USA - NOV 27, 2011
Pint can pours a cloudy muddy brownish orange color with a dense taj foam head. Mild roasted caramel malt aroma. Flavor is pretty unique in that for a red ale it has some nice sour notes in the finish along with the sweet nutty notes. Not bad.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 nuplastikk (2442) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 24, 2011
500ml can courtesy dcschiller. Glowing red-orange with a big orange-beige head...quite red tinted, almost seems dyed. Hoppy saltwater aroma, some caramel vanilla and amber malt. Captures the style pretty well. On the richer side of medium bodied, the smooth malt tones keep this one pretty sessionable. Slightly fruity amber malt tones, delicate though present hop balance. Comes off a touch minerally. A pretty decent Red, but not World Class stuff.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 5000 (3998) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - NOV 22, 2011
Bottle:   Deep amber, fairly hazy, HUGE rocky off-white head, sticky lacing.   This was almost a gusher, but I caught it in the glass just in the nick of time.   Based on other reviews, I have a feeling this one may be infected.   Musty and powdery nose... yeah, seems a bit busted.   There is some semblence of Rye and IPA on the tongue, but its overshadowed by this powerdy dry sweetness.   I don’t think that this is what was intended.   Not terrible, but its certainly not an sort of IPA I have had, nor Rye based IPA.   Needs a re-rate.   Thanks for the bottle Kevin!
