Undated 16 oz can of Buckbean Tule Duck from Total Wine Charlotte 1 day prior to consumption.
Great looking beer is a very red amber with a large, frothy tan head that leaves sticky lacing. The body is clear. Smells like a contaminated beer; tasting confirms this. Undrinkable. Research show that the brewery went under some time ago. Rightlyfully so, in my experience. This is the second Buckbean I’ve tried and the other, a different style purchased last year, was also contaminated and nearly undrinkable. Shame on Total for selling this beer; it should have been pulled from the shelves by Total Wine some time ago.

I enjoyed this in a perverse way. Perhaps past its prime, this was a lovely little full bodied, sweet amber with a weird phenolic aftertaste. A little diacetyl too.

Bottle at RBJG 2 Grand Tasting. Cloudy brown colour with a small head that leaves some lacing. Smell of old socks. Flavour of plum, raisin.

RBJG2 can. Big thanks to Travlr for these US state ticks! Aroma is malty, bit indistinct. Taste is buttery, quite sweet. Not so interesting but ok.

Bottled. Sugary, cherry nose, grass and herbs. Muddy color. Dry, mineral flavor, dust, fruit, thin. Yuck.

Can from Beers Of Europe.Light amber pour.Smallish white head.Caramel and malt aroma and taste with a little hop also appearing in the taste.Something unbalanced about this one and hard to drink as well.

Hazy deep red brown beer, small pale tan head. Semi dry palate. Surprisingly tangy fruits. Tangy orange with red berry fruits as well. The orange turns more pithy before the semi dry finish. Was expecting something more malty but a pleasant little beer!

Tin, 473ml from Beers of Europe, Kings Lynn, Norfolk. Cloudy red amber with slight head. Sour nose which follows into the beer, vinegar notes, caramel and boiled vegetables. Really quite poor.

Can. Light amber pour with bubbly straw head. Aroma of cardboard, cooked veggies, caramel, aged hops, grape must. Taste of carboard, toffee, caramel. Palate is med-heavy bodied with med carbonation. Drain pour.
