This deep red robust ale combines a silky smooth rich body with a fruity caramel malt flavor and a soft herbal dry hopped finish. A full flavored classic beer that pairs well with hearty foods of all types.

Great brew! This is not your hop forward west coast red ale, but more of a classic American style red ale that I so enjoy. It has a taste if full and has a lot of depth, a very nice color, and nice smooth hop and malt aroma. I have found all the Buckbean beers to be very well balanced, easy drinking and very different. Not many breweries can pull that off.

Nutty, fruity malt aroma with subtle hops. Beautiful deep red color with light tan head. Nice bitter balance with smooth finish, rich malt character really comes through. Velvety texture. A very full and drinkable beer, definitely not just a darker pale ale.

Looks great - creamy head. Smells of caramel and malt. This is the first excellent beer of the festival that I had. Good and creamy, definitely the best from Buckbean I’ve had.

Can. The color on this is a brooding, caramelized amber color with a dense creamy head thats good to the last drop. Just rich on the nose with concentrated caramel butter and a finely roasted leather wallet. Big on the palate with a solid malt body. Excellent bittering for good flavor health. Very chewy beer with excellent bittering. This would be an amber version of Wexford with a bit more alcohol.

Definitely my favorite Buckbean beer , great drinkability , good alc / vol of 6.2 , not too little , not too much , excellent color, goes very well with BBQ food , I have even used it for a tri tip marinade and it tastes great ! Also it pours very well from a can .

In a can. Pours a red colour with a decent, yellowish head. Aroma of orange, lemon and grapefruit. An interesting fruity flavour also with grapefruit quite prominent, orange and a little soap. A chewy mouth-feel, quite dry and tart also. Fruit tingles and grapefruit to finish.

Sampled on 7/17/2010. This amber ale pours a reddish amber color from a 16oz can. Medium to large sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel, fruity and sweet. A medium bodied amber ale. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet. The hops are herbal and a touch citrusy. A fairly flavorful amber. Nice carbonation. A touch of tartness. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter

A pint in a can, how nice. Poured into a tulip...Pours a dark copper/amber, not to attractive. A huge creamy dark tope head, good retention and lacing, 50% good, 50% could be better...Aroma is super sweet caramel, bread, and sugared orange fruits, never had so much of a fruit character on a red. Seems off but makes it more appealing to me, I want to try it...The taste isn’t as successful, reminds me a macro in feel and slight skunk finish. Lots of rye and toffee, fruit is gone. Not bad and totally crushable. After the reviews I was expecting a terrible brew. This beat my expectations. I can’t recommend this outright, but for a Nevada tick, sure. Thanks Destral! Get’s a little tough to drink after a while.

Can. A reddish color with an off-white head. A nice malty flavor with a slightly tangy finish. Quite nice for the style.

Can.Pours hazy chestnut with thin off-white head. Aroma is woody, with fruity background - light citrus and berry. Full textured mouthfeel. Flavor is toasty caramel with a light bitterness. Finish is mild citrus fruitiness and light resiny bitterness. An extremely mild sour lactic note underscores all of this and gives it just a hint of complexity that beats some others in the category.
