Sampled a "can aged" Very Noddy with the brewer and co-founder. Pours a medium brown color. Some whiskey notes at first. A skosh sour and fairly light overall.

Sweet roasty and dried fruit aroma. Jet black liquid with tan head. Heavy body, lots of malt complexity, noticeable alcohol, amazingly smooth for such a big beer. Great balance, not too sweet, but clean, quick finish. No harsh notes at all. Fantastic cold weather sipping beer.

This is the best 10+ ABV beer I have ever had. I typically shy away from high alcohol beers because they tend to burn when I drink them. I was blown away by the smoothness of this beer and would have never guessed that it packs a punch. No wonder it won a bronze at the World Beer Cup in 2010. It is such a full tasting, smooth brew, that I feel like I should sit in front of a fire place on a winters night smoking a cigar and sipping this lager. This is a must have beer!

Can… Pours nearly black with a huge, creamy, lightly-tanned head. Fantastic retention. The bouquet is of deeply roasted malts, vanilla, oak, espresso and coconut. Full-bodied and milky with weak carbonation. The flavor is a good bit alcoholic with notations of chocolate, whiskey and oak. Sweet, warming, sourmash finish. Lots of barrel-aged features here, but the commercial description on the can doesn’t mention anything about this being a barrel-aged beer. Enjoyable. Can courtesy of jcwattsrugger!

Tap. Black pour with a small beige head. Smells of chocolate, caramel, some smokiness. Tastes of chocolate, caramel, smoke, vanilla. Pretty solid beer but a little bit muddled.

Brown pour with tan head and lace. Aroma of roasted malt and peat. Smokey malt, a hint of coffee, roasted malt, and a good malt bitter. Medium bodied just a tad fizzy.

6oz bottle at the Pi Bar, San Francisco, 12th March 2010. Black with a line of head. Nose of malt, some milk chocolate, spirits and coffee. Taste is similar but smooth and it slips right down. Very nice. Doesn’t feel like 10%+!
