Draft. Blackish beer with a tan head. Light buttry aroma with light caramel. Toffee and light buttery flavor with light mineral notes. Medium bodied. Toffee and light butter lingers with light mineral.

The beer pours black with a nice beige head, creamy and thick. The aroma has some excellent dark chocolate, big and bold. Black coffee is relatively strong, too. Flavor is mildly sweet with a rich chocolate flavor. The feel is a tad thin for what’s essentially an imperial stout but still rather good. With just a little more malt depth, maybe some more crystal malt, this beer could be excellent.

Black with a fizzy off white head. Strong chocolate roasted grain and drip coffee aroma. Tastes of coffee mild chile chocolate and sweet spice with a dry cherry and coffee finish. Major points for originality.

Tap @ Barleywine & Big Beer Fest... Poured deep, dark brown with amber highlights and a khaki head. Cocoa malts with a lager yeast shining through. Cherry tones, caramel and a malty finish.

Pours caramelly red/brown with a thin, creamy, offwhite head and good lace. Smells of caramel malts, sweet with a twinge of booze. Tastes of sweet malts, some caramel, slight fruit and lots of dry dishtowel flavor as well. Medium/full body, ok carbonation.

Draft at Belmont Station. Pours an opaque black with a dense, creamy dun-colored head that takes forever to settle. Shows plenty of lumpy rocks and nice moussy foundation even after it has settled. Tons of sheeting, webby lace. Gorgeous. Nice mild chocolate, anise, and roast nose--mild for such a high-grav, forceful-looking beer, I mean. Thick creamy body with that lager-yeast silkiness. Delectable. Chocolate, anise, and roast on the mid-palate, with a nicely subdued finish of restrained sweetness. Deceptively understated and calm with a nicely hidden booze payload. Not sure if the level of complexity is really enough payoff for the amount of booze and malt packed into this one, but it’s very good as it is. Interesting result from what must have been a fun recipe-building process.

Called an Imperial schwarzbier. Draught. Poured black with medium head. Aroma is grassy hop and toast. Toasty malty flavour, sweetness cut by roasting. Light finish with a bit of a bite.

Beer pours almost black. Smells sweet. Tastes sweet with malt. Is bad. Sorry, a re-tard was in the midst of rating and I stole back the computer. Thanks to kmweaver for the kick ass silver can with a sticker that looks like its the presidents choice version from safeway. Hell yeah! Lots going on in the nose. Tons of roast, burnt malts, burnt bread, earthy hops, some dark fruit shows up too but is very light. Caramel too. Pours almost black with a great beige lasting head. Roast, cola, chocolate, big bitterness - earthy and somewhat piney, peppery. Nice hops actually. Burnt notes, charred notes, carbon, very interesting. Body is light and somewhat clean even with all the roast, burnt, and hop notes. Alcohol shows up and is lately warming. I like this, but I guess its because I am not the # 1 sour rater in the world and my palate is akin to a re-tard, or perhaps its vice versa? Paging Dr. faggot! Not at the table Carlos. Fuck your stupid idiot ratings and fuck trying to win fake competitions on the internet so dudes with nicknames will think you are cool... My balls fell asleep.

On tap the the SD strong ale fest 09. brown pour. Dark sweet malt, dried fruit, a bit of toffee, and dirty sock. It’s alright.
