Tap @ Pizza Port Strong Ale fest 2009. Pours a deep cola brown with a beige ring. Nose is full of dark, dried fruits with tons of roasted malts and a good amount of booze. Flavor is much of the same.

500mL can, purchased from the brewery (these are basic silver cans with stick-on labels, not like the fancy cans of their regular releases). Pours a dark cola-brown color; light-tan head with excellent mixed-bubbled lacing. The nose on this is somewhat muted: mostly dried dark fruits, tobacco, and a hint of alcohol; very relaxed. Solid carbonation is coupled to a strongly inky mouthfeel: lots of dried dark fruits, raisins, cola, and inky chocolate; a very light chalkiness here; alcohol is hidden, though there is some definite viscosity here; breadiness and cereal at the core; ultimately a bigger (and honestly blander, with seemingly less roast and more cola) version of Black Noddy; big, smooth, reasonably drinkable for a beer this big; lots of cola. Lengthy finish: lasting cola, increased roasted maltiness and toastiness at the far end; nicely dry and bitter.
