blankboy (3165), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 12, 2008 Bottle (22oz) shared with jerc, mabel, GregClow & mds -- courtesy of GregClow. Labelled ’Berry Ale’. Pours a clear ruby-orange with an average size diminishing off-white head. Nice tart berry aroma with some light malt, light hops and spices. Slightly watery flavour with sweet malt, mild berry tartness and a short finish. Alcohol’s totally hidden. Average to medium bodied. A pretty decent Fruit beer. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 10, 2008 Bottle. Light copper-red body with a small, creamy, white head. The aroma has some light raspberry, metal, and light jam sweetness. Flavour has raspberry syrup, strawberry, and some sweet cookie and caramel. It’s pretty weak and somewhat muddled together. jerc (3861), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 4, 2008 2008-02-01. Bottle labeled Berry Ale. Dark amber body with a small off white head. Good amount of raspberry aroma is lightly tart with a perceived slightly artificial note to it. (6+) Sweet malt underlies a sweet tart raspberry flavour. Average palate. Alcohol is not noticeable. Pretty decent fruit beer but fairly plain overall. GregClow (2493), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 2, 2008 Bottle (labelled as "Berry Ale") shared with jerc, mabel, blankboy & mds - my bottle. Ruby-orange colour with a small head. Very nice tart berry notes in the aroma, but also a strong malt backbone, making it obvious that this is a beer and not a fruity pseudo-cooler. Good mouthfeel, full without being heavy. Good flavour, with sweet malt in balance with the tart raspberry. Hides that 7% frighteningly well. A pleasant surprise. mgermani (862), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Nov 5, 2007 Bottle simply says "Berry Ale". Pours a soft amber with a mall layer of foam. Holy diacetyl, batman! Smells just like microwave popcorn! Taste has a faint tartness to it. Again, tons of diacetyl and light cranberry/gooseberry. Decent carb, thin body. Ouch ouch ouch! jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Oct 16, 2007 on tap-pours a thin white head and red color. Aroma is berry. Taste is berry spritzer. OK carbonation. Beershine (2678), Hue, Vietnam Oct 13, 2007 Smooth berry ale with a pleasing dry finish. Balanced and not too sweet. Lovely ruby shine and a fruity aroma. Refreshing, and hits the spot if you are in the mood for this style. Bradrcr (778), Renton, Washington, USA Sep 22, 2007 7/14/07 On draught at the brewery. Aroma is raspberry bubble gum. Appearance is similar to a regular American amber with a low head. Flavor is a raspberry/sweet malt blend forward, slightly sour, with moderate bittering and no hop character. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a medium/high carbonation and a dry finish. Overall, this does keep some amber character, but it’s just not easy drinking enough.
