February 2010 - garthicus/blankboy/me minitasting. 650ml bottle shared by blankboy. Poured slightly hazy red-amber with an average white frothy head. Floral/grainy aroma surprisingly pungent, and while there was definite generic green treefruit in there, I was impressed by how grainy it was - these things are usually sugary fruit bombs (although it did have a hint of raspberry syrup, a la Italian soda). Similar taste, but not as sweet as I feared - very tart (think fruit w/ lemon juice) and pungent, less "beer-like" than the aroma. Average, slightly sticky mouthfeel, slightly astringent and sort of acidic, nicely carbonated, and quick-finishing. Really decent stuff, actually.

[1070-20080201] 650mL (c/o GregClow, w/ him, blankboy, jerc, mds; called "Berry Ale"). Berry sweet alcohol aroma. Clear, red amber body wih a long-lasting creamy white head. Flavour is sweet grainy leaf berries and an afterbreath of strawberry plant. Medium body is a little thin. Interesting berriness but something seems missing.

At Swans. Raspberry nose. Red amber, low head. Quite berrylike compared to others, light roast. med to light body, dry mouthfeel. Drinkable actually he said surprised.

Sweet fruity syrup berry nose on top of a stronger blonde beer base. Pours amberish with some red tints. Berry sweetness, strong blonde wheat beer base. Lingering sweet berry notes. Perhaps a little too much berry sweetness for my liking, but I do like fruit beers so.....

Smooth berry ale with a pleasing dry finish. Balanced and not too sweet. Lovely ruby shine and a fruity aroma. Refreshing, and hits the spot if you are in the mood for this style.

The Great BrewDad Victoria Pub Crawl - Great Fruit aroma and flavor. This was a very good fruit beer.

Draft - Raspberry and light malts, a bit jammy. Light clear amber with a thin head. Malty raspberries, again tastes like jam as it smells. Not bad, but just not a fan.

Glass. Red amber. Thin head. Light berry scent. Initial tart flavour. Don’t notice the high ABV in the taste or mouth feel. Light berry taste. Dry. You could drink a pint or two. Fruit has a nice balance.

UPDATED: JUN 25, 2006 (Draught) 2003 Silver Medallist @ CDN Brewing Awards. Thin, white head with a mohogany body. Slight jammy nose but good alcohol tone to cover the aroma. Flavour is sweet, tart with a decent ABV. I see no reason to mark this beer less than GOOD!

tiggmtl (4548) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 23, 2008
UPDATED: MAR 20, 2009 (Buckerfield’s Berry Ale - Strong Fruit Ale): Aroma is pleasantly tart and full of berries. Underlying doughy, sweet malt character is notable. Clear amber-copper coloured body is topped by a fizzy off white, large bubbled head that recedes very rapidly to a slight ring. Toasty and lightly grainy and sweet malt flavour underscores the tart berry flavours. Tastes almost like a fruity ginger ale and the dry medium-light body and strong fizzy carbonation reinforce that impression. Tulip glass. Just above fridge temperature. Bottle (BB Nov-Wk 4-08, Brewery Creek, Apr-08).
