Bottle (labelled as "Berry Ale") shared with jerc, mabel, blankboy & mds - my bottle. Ruby-orange colour with a small head. Very nice tart berry notes in the aroma, but also a strong malt backbone, making it obvious that this is a beer and not a fruity pseudo-cooler. Good mouthfeel, full without being heavy. Good flavour, with sweet malt in balance with the tart raspberry. Hides that 7% frighteningly well. A pleasant surprise.

Deep red-orange. Natural mashed raspberry and cherry aroma. Generously malty backbone with a nice balanced natural fruit character-- juicy, and not candyish in any way. The booze is very well hidden in this. Really great actually!

Draught (2005) Really enjoyed this. Toned down berry in flavor and aroma with hoppy undertones. Nice copper with a slight purple/redish tinge.

[1070-20080201] 650mL (c/o GregClow, w/ him, blankboy, jerc, mds; called "Berry Ale"). Berry sweet alcohol aroma. Clear, red amber body wih a long-lasting creamy white head. Flavour is sweet grainy leaf berries and an afterbreath of strawberry plant. Medium body is a little thin. Interesting berriness but something seems missing.

Amber with an off white head. Aroma is light blackberry, malt, and caramel. Taste seems to be mainly blackberry, and boysenberry rather then raspberry, also has a caramel note but definantly some candy like fruitiness.

Slightly reddish colour, perfectly clear with a faint pink head. Great sweet raspberry aroma. Flavour is also prominantly raspberry, with an acidic twang following the initial fruitiness. Bitterness seems to come mostly from raspberry seeds (i.e. not hop-like). Very interesting and quite refreshing.

Dark amber with a fair bit of reddish. Malty raspberry flavour with some hoppyness in there. Raspberry flavour isn’t overly strong and fits in there nicely with the other flavours. Was torn between giving it a 13 and a 14.

8/24/2007: Buckerfields Raspberry Ale has blueberry-like floral aroma and a berry flavor (blueberry flavor with a raspberry tartness). There is a light citrusy hoppiness and smooth maltiness underneath the berry flavor. The beer is medium-light to medium in body and has a mellow, mild palate. It really reminds me of an English Bitter with some berry flavoring added to it. I really though think that this is a pretty good fruit beer.

Draught sample at Swans Brewpub in Victoria, BC, Canada. Rating #14 for this beer...
