fiulijn (5860), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Aug 3, 2008 Draught at the brewpub Nice dark amber color. There is some malt aroma. Medium-round mouthfeel, with some sweetish malt and caramel flavor, balancing bitterness, but as the other beers here, not many emotions; and there is a light sour touch, as if they don’t sell enough and the tap has been open too long... DuffMan (1915), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Jul 11, 2008 Pours a beautiful deep red brown, with a dense thick tan head. aroma of cooked banana, brown sugar, spice. Medium-heavy mouthfeel of brown sugary malts, a touch spicy, and again a subtle caramalized banana note. This made me think weizenbock more than scotch ale, but I really enjoyed it regardless. Enniskillen (1542), Port Angeles, Washington, USA Jul 6, 2008 Amber with a thin white head. Aroma is caramel, dried fruit and a nice maltiness. Taste is a suprising raspberry, caramel, with lots of fruit for a scotch ale. Ughsmash (2958), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Apr 17, 2008 Bomber. Poured clear garnety brown with a creamy cap of beige head. The aroma picked up aged caramel with darker fruits and green apple.. this would have been really nice sans that last part. The flavor had the same caramel at the core with darker fruit and light earthy bitterness.. there’s a bit of sour fruit skin, but it doesn’t really get in the way.. long, sweeter finish with some warmth and spices. Medium-bodied on the palate with some sticky sourness on the back and finish.. decent flow. Decent brew. tupalev (2285), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 5, 2007 Bottle, courtesy of GregClow (thanks man!!). Very very dark brown, small brown head. Nice malt aroma - sweet, some hops - good. Good taste - strong sweet malt, good amount of earthy hops, nice touch of assertive alcohol. Very full flavoured. Medium body. A great Scotch Ale - right on style and very flavourful.
