COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A full-bodied traditional "Scotch Ale" brewed in the "wee-heavy" style, this product is perfectly balanced between malt and hops and has a burnished copper color.

This is good. Kinda weak. Weak in hops, but that’s the style. No significant head or appearance. Malty taste, but not to McEwans standard for me. Just a soso beer, actually too bored with it to rate it any more.

Sweet malty goodness. Slightly hoppier than other Scotch ales I’ve had. Simple, really. A well crafted brew. Smells of caramel and cherries.

Brown bread, toffee, chocolate, earthy hops on the nose. Pours copper, some haze, nice off white creamy head. The flavor has sweet brown bread, chocolate, toffee, lihght roast, earthy hops. Lingering dry sweetness. Medium to full bodied, Leaning towards the sweet side but with some dry bitterness as well.

Not the biggest scotch ale fan but this was pleasant enough. Pours dark bronze with some head. Aroma is chocolate, toffee, cereal. Taste is sweet and malt-heavy. Some very mild hopping. Would like a bit more. Alcohol is subtle to a fault.

650ml bottle pours a nice brown color with about 2 fingers of light tan head that leaves a few spots of lacing. Aroma is earthy with some smokiness. Taste is big malty sweetness with an earthy hop bitterness and some smokiness in the finish. Medium bodied and lightly carbonated with a nice balance of flavors this is a nice representation of the style.

Tap @ brewpub. Dark amber brown appearance with an off white head. Nice, sweet, toffee scotch ale nose. Somewhat boozy, almost grape-like, toffee, caramel malty flavor. A little boozy and strong for my taste.

5 ounce sample draft at the Swans bar at $10.00CAD for 6-samples. Very good.

Bouteille 650 ml. 8%. Excellente.

22oz bottle from Libations in Vancouver. Pours a deep brown with decent tan head. Aroma of caramel malt, slightly sweet. Flavour is a really lush and decent chewy malt. Alcohol is well integrated. Finish has a touch of smokiness. All in all it’s a great example of the style and very drinkable.

Dark black body with barely any head. Aroma of fruits mixed with roasted barley. Flavour is syrupy sweetness and a hint of barley in there. Way too sweet, like sucking back on syrup. Cloying.

Pours reddish brown. Aroma and flavour of molasses, dark fruit and caramel malt. Finishes a little smoky / spicy. Not bad.
