COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A unique blend of seven varieties of malt and oats in this special recipe result in a rich, full-bodied stout, with a strong roasted character, a moderately full hop intensity and a creamy smooth finish.

Jesus, when does the punishment end? Why bother? The aroma in this is brutal. Unabashed booziness. This is probably the worst stout I’ve ever had. Pours dark brown with no lacing, no head. Finishes slightly sweet. Aroma malt that tastes lagery with unbalanced booze and strange malt. I was willing to show a good spirit through the lagers and bitters, but this is straight abuse. On tap at brewpub.

650ml bottle. Black, roasty, dry, smooth, crisp, flat and generally unexceptional. I remember this being much tastier the time I tried it on tap. Maybe something gets lost in the bottling.

I took the beer direct at the pub. Perfect darf appearance in the glas. Really good taste of the different sorts of malt. I enjoyed it!

650ml bottle pours black in color with a finger and a half of light beige head that leaves very little lacing behind. Aroma is roasted barley with hints of chocolate and earthy notes. Taste is roasted barley and light hop bitterness with some mild chocolate malty sweetness. Body is a little thin for the style and carbonation is also light. A decent stout, but there are other much better ones out there.

OK, but IMHO too thin for an oatmeal stout. Coffee flavour as expected, not very complex. Nothing terribly wrong with it, but quite a few exits away from Exquisite, Beerland.

Roasted malts on the nose backed with solid oat sweetness. Little char as well. Pours black tan head. Flavors start roasty with a little bitter char and finish smooth and sweet with nice oat aspect providing balance and drinkability. Smooth.

Sample at the pub is just about black with creamy tan head. Aroma is gentle roast, espresso, toast. Taste is similar, and its very, very smooth. It’s a very gentle stout - could be drunk in volume.

5 ounce sample draft at the Swans bar at $10.00CAD for 6-samples. Very good.

Nice black body with a faint ruby hue; okay bit of beige, the darker variety, sitting on top. Aroma is roasted barley, roasted enough to provide some spicy notes and no apparent sweetness. Flavour is a bit over-roasted for barley, almost turning into ash and not converting into some of those nicer stout flavours; alas. Mouthfeel is a little weak too. It’s a below average porter.

Bought two 650 ml bottles of this a couple of years ago at the brewpub. Drank one and did not really like it at all. Forgot the second one that has been in the cellar since, bottle labeled "freshest before 11 2009". This rating is for the cellared bottle. Pours beautiful dark brown to black, with an everlasting, big, creamy head. Aroma of chocolate, toast, a bit of sour dough. Medium sweet and bitter, a little salty and just a hint of lactic sourness. Taste is chocolate, caramel. Feels almost creamy in the mouth, soft carbonation. Tasted the thick foam, and wow it was good, sweet caramel candy. Glad I forgot about having this for a while.
