mds (2111), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 16, 2008 Bottle.
Clear, bright copper body with a frothy, white, medium head. Very floral aroma has oranges and grapefruit notes. The flavour is chewy with a hard dose of pine and orange along with a bit of alcohol heftiness. Very nice.
Thanks for the bottle, Rudolf!
GMCC2181 (303), Bear, Delaware, USA Jul 1, 2008 Bottle from StFun, thanks josh! Pours a copper yellow color, good one finger sized head. Good lacing left on the glass as well. Aroma is citrus hops. Taste is the same. Smooth and well balanced. Good DIPA, closer to an IPA in my opinion. But overall good brew! Thanks again josh! radiomgb (1710), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Jul 1, 2008 Bright copper/golden in colour, lingering off-white coloured head, good lacing. The aroma is very hoppy with orange citrus and pine, juicy, some bread. The flavour is quite hoppy, sweet, some pine, caramel malt, chewy. Moderately bitter mouthfeel, medium body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes long, hoppy and sweet.
This is good, it shows more balance than the Hop Whore that I just finished. This wasn’t the full out hop assult as some other IIPA’s.
650ml bottle shared by mds, thanks Mike.

iowaherkeye (1366), Back in Iowa City!, Iowa, USA May 29, 2008 22oz bottle, no date from puddintane, thanks! Clear honey golden with a one finger off-white head, pretty decent retention. Citrus, pineapple, and some cotton candy are dominant. Resiny pine is in the background. For whatever reason, it’s hard for me to tell how fresh the bottle is. The sweet orange peel makes itself apparent in the flavor, along with the pineapple, resiny pine, and cotton candy again. Sweet honey light caramel (not scorched or earthy) backbone. Bitterness ended up around a 3 or so that took a while for it to finally peak. Alcohol was masked very well. Medium body with moderate carbonation. It doesn’t really come across as an Imperial IPA so much as an IPA. Quite tasty. Rogueone (291), I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio, USA May 27, 2008 On draft @ Buckeye Beer Engine: This pours a golden yellow with thick white lacing. Aroma is citrus rind. Flavor is earthy hop, citrus throughout, and a bitter finish that has a weak malt backbone. Very drinkable, does fairly well to hide the ABV. Glouglouburp (1872), Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 14, 2008 In short: Very tasty extra hoppy/bitter IIPA but with a weak Golden-Ale-ish malt profile. Still very good.
How: Tap at brewpub. 7.5% on the brewpub board (current bottle description says 7.9%)
The look: Clear golden blonde body with a small white head
In long: Unusual malt profile for an IIPA, crusty white bread with crunchy honey, like some kind big Kolsh or big Golden Ale. Then comes the hops, and there’s a lot of them, grassy and coniferous hops with some orange notes. High bitterness intensity. Alcohol apparent even at only 7.5% with a body that just can’t hide any of it. To me the intense hopping really saved the day but I’m a hophead and this is a pure American hop-fix. But this is not the right beer for those wanting balance and complexity or for those wanting a chocolate stout.
