light brown with moderate white head. nice crisp nobel hop nose. flavor of moderate, but sharp bitterness followed by some mild munich and some toasty malt flavors before a very pleasant floral noble hop flavor before a nice dry finish. a very well made alt, with prominent but balanced bitterness. with the paltry ratings that this beer has received, i wonder if people really understand the alt-style, i imagine not
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Pipper (325) - Ohio, USA - OCT 12, 2009
On tap at the Beer Engine. Poured a orangey amber with very very light carbonation and a fast-fading off-white head. I can’t place the flavor - it reminds me of another style. I guess it’s the resinous hops but it’s more muted here than in the style I’m trying to name which I guess might be an IPA or a DIPA. A nice brew but not for another pint.

UPDATED: JUL 28, 2009 7/07/2008: Buckeye Arthur has a toasted orange color with a dense, fluffy biege head that provides good lacing. The aroma is dry and earthy with some wet grains and a hint of citrus. The flavor is also somehwat grainy, but I like the soft floral bitterness and soft, creamy mouthfeel. This beer is somewhat dry overall and has a mdium-full body. Nothing really jumps out, but it is still good and very sessionable.

July 17-19, 2008: Buckeye Arthur Ale doesn’t have much of an aroma and its flavor is grainy and plain with undertones of bread crust and a really milkd hop presence in the back. The beer is golden amber in color with a beige head on top. Overall this beer is smooth and easy to drink but isn’t particularly interesting.

Enjoyed at the brewpub. Reddish colour with lace. Tastes like a competent altbier. Yeast kicks in the finish.

Lakewood, Oh. - on tap at the Beer Engine. Dark copper pour, thickish khaki colored head with nice trailing lacing. Fresh lake water aroma, hint of mint. Flavor is nutty with some toffee notes and a minty finish. Clean, even mouthfeel. Good lunch companion.

Draft @ Buckeye Beer Engine: Pours a dark amber-orange. Aroma is faint sweet caramel malts, some cereal grains. Flavor is medium-bodied with toasted caramel malts. Not too complex, but refreshingly drinkable.
3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 TheShat (131) - Lakewood, Ohio, USA - MAY 17, 2008
Had this on Draft at Buckeye Beer Engine. This beer is a clear reddish brown. The aroma is has faint hop and yeast smell. There is also a strawlike aroma. The bear tastes almost creamy wit a robust mal flavor. I was suprised by the dry finish. Not bad.

In short: Very tasty and hoppy/bitter blonde ale of some kind
How: Tap at brewpub. Called Anniversary Alt on the brewpub menu, I’m assuming this is the same beer.
The look: Clear dark blonde body with almost no head
In long: Smooth doughy body with honey and floral leafy hops. Some toasted bread. Limited caramel presence and even less fruity notes presence. Strong leafy hops presence and nice flavourful “green” bitterness. Very clean, very drinkable, this is an acceptable session beer. However as an Altbier it is about as true to the style as circus clown in a grey three-piece-suit.

One-year Anniversary Altbier poured into a commemorative little glass. Pours a golden copper with a tight white head. Mild aromas of sweet maltiness. Agreeable flavors of bready malt, a touch of nuttiness, and some sweet caramel. Ample bitterness in the finish. Very drinkable.
