37steel (186), St. Charles, Illinois, USA Nov 14, 2007 On draft at The Beer Engine. Very dark brown with an off-white head. Chocolate and sweet malt in the aroma. Very full mouthfeel, creamy. Chocolate flavors. JasonG (635), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Mar 10, 2003 RAF batch, served at brewery: Crystal clear brownish color, with a medium sized white head. Aroma has subtle malts and hops. Flavor is smooth, malty in the middle and slightly hoppy at the finish. A very nice brown. Drew (2377), Kent, Ohio, USA Mar 13, 2003 What a dark brown Brown - with a light tan head. The first few sips were foamy smooth - like a nitro beer, but with a lot more body. As it warmed, the palate stayed thick, but the carbonation mellowed a lot. Malts were a little nutty, mildly sweet - hints of anise at the finish - and backed up with a reasonable hop presence. Brown isn't my favorite style, but this one's quite drinkable. dankfor20 (193), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Jul 31, 2002 How weird i swear i was drinkin a pale ale. Had a pint of this while eating at pizza plant and i had to ask the waitress if this was the brown ale. and she assured me it was she watched the bartender pour it. Very light in color for a brown ale. Also very hoppy. If it wasn’t for the malts i wouldn’t consider it a brown ale. As for taste it was good as ya don’t think of regular brown MikeF (523), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Mar 9, 2003 RAF batch. A dangerously drinkable beer. Smooth, tasty, and moderately bitter. No component is overpowering. A superbly balanced brown ale.
