Hoptoberfest '03, Buckeye Brewing, draft. Very piney, sharp bitterness. Bitter from the start to the finish and beyond. Had resin and citrus in the taste. Nice and hoppy.

As IPA’s go, I was rather disappointed. It wasn’t even close to being as fresh, hoppy and citrusy as Rocky River’s Hop Goblin IPA in nearby Rocky River, Ohio. It lacked everything I love about IPA’s, namely a biting hoppy finish, and that beautiful citrusy, hop flavor throughout.

Tap at Hoptoberfest ’04. Golden amber color. Nice white head. Good lacing. Huge citrus aroma coming off. Malt and hops are both noticable in taste, but the hops just seem to take over. Really well done for a person who likes lots ’o hops.

On tap at the brewery. Murky orange with very few bubbles. Huge fresh hop nose. Great hop flavors of orange and so much pine its almost a forest. The beer needs a stronger malt presence to balance all the hops, and a little more body too. Very much a hop beer.

UPDATED: MAR 18, 2004 Puffy White med density head with moderate staying power. Strong, pleasant fresh floral, fruity aroma. Very crisp palate, refreshing, but not thin in flavor. Bitter, but also astringent, with a mild to moderate maltiness. A really great IPA.

Draft at brewery: Golden color, pure white, frothy head. Aroma is total hops assault, citrusy as well. Flavor is extremely hopy and very bitter throughout. A nice IPA, very distinctive and representative of this style of hops, though it's a bit too much for me. Could use a bit more balance. Still a great brew and worth trying.

Another Hoptoberfest debut. Now I know why hop lovers love the "C" hops, I've had all Centenial IPA's and lots with Cascade, but this one was close to being over the top! Totally pine, grapefruit, citrus aroma that gave us a good indication of what was in store. Color was dark ruby/brown and slightly cloudy, good head and great lacing. Palate was really thick on this one. Taste was pine tree sap and grapefruit rind, almost sharp enough to sting, and I liked that feeling quite a lot! Sticky and lingering, tropical fruits paraded up and down my tongue. Fantastic.
