Stine (1279), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Jul 20, 2008 Frothy copper pour. Herbal and distantly salty sharp aroma; chlorine water, doughy malt, brisk greenish spices, white crackers, and chives. Soft and somewhat plain, the gentle sparkle of spicing works nicely with the citrusy sweetness. Concentrated pine hop flavors tightly bind with this clove essence from the wheat to create a a crisp vegetal impression, though this never gets too aggressive. Citrus tones wash over in consistent sunshine; lighter moments of white stone fruits. Grassiness, musty and dry. Kellerbier dry. Mint, clove and herbal tea recurrences. Simple and refreshing. Medium body is prickly and mineral-sharp. More greenness toward the finish in bay leaf and basil, which is again somewhat sharp. The contrived sentiment of its rough bitterness is hard to escape, but in the end it isn’t as abrasive as it would seem. Totally passable; some intriguing moments. Thanks Kristine! sja14 (48), Ohio, USA Jul 20, 2008 Amber body with big light brown head. Aroma is piney and hoppy. Not much to this beer other than floral bitterness. Not balanced enough for my tastes. Odeed (1438), Bakersfield, California, USA Jun 23, 2008 caramel body with a nice white head.aroma is of caramel malts and lots of oxidation.flavor is much of the same with some chemical type bitterness.i guess the bottle is old. iowaherkeye (1367), Back in Iowa City!, Iowa, USA Jun 8, 2008 22oz bottle, no date from puddintane and the Mystery Swap 3.0--thanks! Clear medium orange with a two finger eggshell head, fading to a 1/2 finger and retaining well. Citrus hops dominate--orange, more specifically--and some grassy notes with a pretty good biscuit and caramel backbone. Some perfumey hops become apparent in the flavor. Considering it is an IPA, the aroma seemed fairly well balanced--not as much with the flavor, but still more balanced than a lot of IPAs I’ve had. Dry finish with bitterness peaking around a 5-6 and lingering in the back corners of my tongue. Medium body with light to moderate carbonation. Maybe because it was my first beer of the day since my shitty sunburn, but this beer made me happy. CelticBrew (425), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA Jun 8, 2008 Bomber compliments of DrBayern (Thanks Matt!). Pours A medium dark amber, aroma of hops, citruis flowers and slight carameled woods. Formed small slightly off white foamy head. Flavour was of citrus tones with a hopped character, a bit dry with a floral hint. Both sweetly malty and dry hopped. Impressive beer, baby want more baby want it in tap!
