COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Hippie I.P.A. continues to be the Buckeye Brewing Company’s best selling beer. First brewed in the summer of ’98, the “Hippie” has become a Cleveland classic among hop lovers. Reminiscent of ales brewed on the Pacific west coast, the Hippie I.P.A. is big, rich in malt and chock full of hops. American malts are used in the grain bill, including pale ale, crystal, dextrin malt and torrified wheat. It is hopped five times with a combination of Northern Brewer and Cascade. After fermentation, hops are added “dry” to impart bold hop aroma. The Hippie starts at 1.068 and is 80 IBU’s.

This is an extrememly hoppy ale, which is what turned me on about it the most. Another than that nothing really spectacular about this IPA. I did however enjoy the very bitter finish.

Typical IPA aroma, slight hints of citrus. Flavor is not very bitter, but has the feel of a hoppy beer. Nice rich amber hue and thin white head. Has a lasting palate of an IPA, so I"m happy with it.

Draft from brewery: Amber in color, with a thinnish head. A very hoppy aroma, with just a bit of sweetness. Flavor is very hoppy overall, a bit of malt and sweetness to balance, and just a touch of bitterness at the finish. A good beer overall.

Yowza! Thanks to alcfron to sending this to me since I have been too lazy to drive the 2 hours to Buckeye Brewing. This 22oz beast pours a nice clear copper color with a medium off-white head and some lacing. Mild effervescence it notable, it makes the beer much more pleasing to the eye. Strong hops aroma will make you blink. Appropriately biting hops flavor makes me look forward to trying the ’76. Just a pinch of toasted malt and caramel keep the hops from being overwhelming. Nice dry finish. This is a good IPA.

1st off thanks alcfron for this brew. That’s why I love this site. This beer is one of the better IPA’s that I’ve had. Great aroma of the hops. Great taste of the hops, and great finish with the hops. A wonderful beer, a must try for any hop head!

Copper colored with a huge,slow-rising, frothy, head.Excellent lacework and retintion. Aromas of herbal, citric hops and strong caramel.Quite a pleasing aroma.Palate is a bit thin.Flavors are caramelly, toasty, with a big, appealing hop finish. This is totally drinkable and well worth seeking out.Got my first bottle in the spring(wished bought more than one)and got two from Jeff, thanks to Alcfron.Love it everytime.Consistent.

Copper colored out of the bottle with a thick, frothy off-white head and a piney, sharp hop nose. Very much a west coast style IPA. Great balance of sweet and bitter. Nice citrus flavor over a strong malt backbone without that pinching grapefruit taste you get in some extreme IPAs. Very smooth and fresh. It does bring to mind the White Knuckle, but I think this has a better overall taste. Seek this beer out. Thanks to alcfron for my bottle.
